Conservative pollster hits Trump with brutal rating on his
President Donald Trump has gotten some pretty dire job approval numbers from a conservative polling firm that the Trump administration has previously touted.
Rasmussen Reports released a national poll on Monday conducted from February 2 to 4, showing that 56% of more than 1,000 likely American voters disapprove of Trump’s performance during his second term in the White House.
Rasmussen is widely considered a politically conservative pollster and said in September that Trump had a 57% approval rating, prompting public skepticism, rebukes from mainstream media outlets and a self-congratulatory post on social media from the White House.
In the new poll, Trump took a big hit compared to President Joe Biden. When asked who did a better job, 48% said Biden and 40% chose Trump.
“Most voters do not believe the United States is living in the ‘Golden Age’ that President Donald Trump promised in his inaugural address, and nearly half say he is doing a worse job than his predecessor,” Rasmussen wrote Monday.
“Rasmussen Reports’ latest national telephone and online poll finds that 27% of likely voters believe this is ‘America’s Golden Age,’ while 58% say it is not and 15% are unsure,” they wrote. “In January 2025, 52% of voters agreed with Trump’s statement.”
The president declared during his inauguration that “America’s golden age begins right now,” that “the future is ours,” and that his election will be “remembered as the greatest and most consequential election in the history of our country.”

Rasmussen’s social media account regularly pushes pro-Trump talking points from Republican lawmakers, social media users, and MAGA pundits. Trump has frequently defended it as “one of the most accurate,” “honest,” and “best” polling firms when the results suited him.
Monday’s poll has left many Democratic experts relieved that Trump appears to be losing his grip on potential Republican voters. Even the firm’s polling chief, Mark Mitchell, acknowledged on social media that Biden would beat Trump if the election were held today.
The MAGA leader has not yet commented on the survey, but has found time for other comments.
After publishing several social media posts on Wednesday refuting accusations of bigotry, attacking Democratic lawmakers and attempting to discredit his past connections to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Trump wrote: “…..And now, THE GOLDEN AGE IS HERE!!!!”
