Cory Bookers secret weapon for the Senate trick? An empty stomach
Senator Cory Booker (Dn.J.) knew he would be fighting against time and biology, when he took the floor of the Senate for his record speech this week. Then planned accordingly.
“My strategy was to stop eating,” he told reporters while leaving the camera after his 25 -hour and 5 minutes speech ended Tuesday night. “I think I stopped eating on Friday, and then stopped drinking the night before starting on Monday. And that had its benefits and had its really bad disadvantages.”
While his extreme preparation saved him from any unchanging rest, the New Jersey politician admitted that the marathon monologue still had a physical price.
“The most important thing I was fighting was that different muscles were really starting to calm down,” he said. “From time to time, they would be spasms or something.”

After wrapping his soliloquy, Booker avoided questions about whether there were additional Safeguardas instead (namely, diapers for adults) during his position against former President Donald Trump. However, the representatives then assured TMZ that everything was the usual under his suit.
Booker was received with applause when his speech finally exceeded a record established by the filibuster of Senator Strom Thurmond of 1957 who denounced the Civil Rights Law.
