President Donald Trump’s own supporters are starting to blame him for high prices, according to a new poll.

In a Politico poll conducted by Public First, 37% of people who backed Trump in 2024 reported that the cost of living is “the worst” they “can remember it ever being,” while 53% of Kamala Harris voters said the same.

Meanwhile, 25% of Trump voters surveyed said they believe the president is wholly or mainly responsible for rising prices.

The White House told Politico that Americans should blame Trump’s predecessor, President Joe Biden, for rising costs and an unstable labor market.

“Cleaning up Joe Biden’s economic mess has been a day one priority for President Trump,” White House spokesman Kush Desai said, adding that the president “is just beginning to implement the policies that created historic economic prosperity in his first term.”

“Americans can rest assured that the best is yet to come,” Desai added.

While the Trump administration said its plan to boost the economy is already underway, it’s unclear whether the president is actually taking Americans’ financial concerns seriously.

He called the affordability crisis a “scam” and a “scam” engineered by Democrats during a Cabinet meeting Tuesday, where he told reporters that the word “affordability” “means nothing to anyone.”
