Veteran actor Denzel Washington has much more in mind than winning another Oscar.

He admitted so much during an “Jake’s Takes” interview with the journalist Jake Hamilton launched earlier this week. And while Washington’s most shameless jokes made their co -star of the “2 highest” Jeffrey Wright meet, his complete explanation was full of sincere introspection.

“I don’t do it for the Oscars,” Washington told Hamilton about his performance.

“I really don’t care about such things,” he continued. “I’ve been in this for a long time, and there are times when I won and I shouldn’t have won, and … I didn’t win and should have won.”

“Man gives the prize, God gives the reward,” he reflected. “I am not so interested in the Oscars.”

Washington certainly does not need more statuettes to consolidate as a screen legend. The actor has 10 wink of the Academy Award to his credit and won the best support actor for “Glory” (1989) and the best actor for the “Training Day” (2001).

In a Esquire trial last year, Washington said he had “shot the drug” in his youth and did “a lot of damage to the body” through the past use of drugs and alcohol. He pointed out that God had seen him worst, and even mentioned the Oscars.

“God is the true way,” he said at that time, he added: “When you see me, you see the best I could do with what my Lord and my Savior have given me. I am not afraid. I don’t care what someone thinks. Look, speaking about the fear of that, you can’t talk like this and win the Oscars.”

Washington could not avoid presuming a bit with his awards during his recent conversation. He told Hamilton that people often ask where they keep their Oscar, just to deliver a noise phrase.
