Diogo Jota, Liverpool FC football player killed in a car accident in Spain along with the brother, says the police

The Spanish police say that the Liverpool FC Diogo Jota and his brother have been killed in a car accident in Spain. The Spanish Civil Guard confirmed to News that Jota and his brother were found dead after his car left a road near the western city of Zamora.
The police were investigating the causes. They said there were no other vehicles involved.
Jota, 28, and his brother, Andre Silva, 25, both Portuguese players, were in the car.

Jota also played for the national team of Portugal. Silva played with the Penafiel Portuguese club in the lower divisions.
“The Portuguese Football Federation and the entire Portuguese football community are completely devastated by the death of Diogo Jota and his brother AndrĂ© Silva, this morning in Spain,” said the Portuguese football federation in a publication on social networks. “We have lost two champions. Their deaths represent irreparable losses for Portuguese football, and we will do everything possible to honor their legacy every day.”
The fire department in Castille-Leon, where Zamora is located, said on his website that a car had crashed just after Thursday’s midnight and exploded in flames, according to the Reuters news agency. He said that two people were found dead in the vehicle, but did not identify them.
The accident occurred less than a week after Jota married, Reuters said.
He helped Liverpool win the Premier League championship last season, and the team also won the FA Cup and the League Cup.
