Anderson Cooper and Ana Navarro are urging people not to normalize Trump’s habit of degrading and insulting people after he called a journalist a “little pig” last week.

The two CNN anchors discussed the president’s shocking firing of Catherine Lucey, a Bloomberg reporter, whom he attempted to silence on Air Force One on Friday by saying “quiet, quiet, piggy!” when she asked a question.

“I know DEI [diversity, equity and inclusion] “It’s not allowed anymore,” Cooper said Tuesday night on CNN. “And I know that diversity and treating people with decency and human kindness is not, you know, what’s popular today in some quarters.”

“But I just don’t understand how someone acts like this over and over again, and everyone pretends, ‘Oh, that’s exactly what this guy does,’” Cooper said in disbelief.

Navarro said people “have become insensitive.”

“I think we have to fight against that need to normalize it and numb ourselves,” he added. “I also think that other journalists in the Oval Office, other journalists who are present, when he behaves this way, they have to express solidarity with the people who are being reprimanded. Because today it could be ABC, but tomorrow it could be us, or it could be them.”

“It simply cannot be allowed,” he said. “This is something that if your children did, you would scold them for it.”

The White House later issued a statement in support of Trump’s “piggy” comment.

“This reporter behaved inappropriately and unprofessionally toward her colleagues on the plane,” an official said in a statement Tuesday. “If you’re going to give it, you have to be able to receive it.”

Trump also criticized another journalist over the weekend after someone asked him about the possible release of new documents related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“Well, I don’t want to talk about it because fake news like you, you’re a terrible reporter, and fake news like you, they keep bringing that up to deflect the tremendous success of the Trump administration,” the president said.
