Doctors warn about the ‘triofecta’ of chronic diseases that affect Americans after Maha’s report
Chronic diseases have been affecting Americans, which HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has called an “epidemic.”
The Maha Commission, which Kennedy presides, published a report on Thursday that evaluates chronic diseases, particularly related to children.
It is estimated that 133 million Americans suffer from at least one chronic disease, according to the American Association Hospital.

“The report shines a necessary focus on a crisis that has been ignored for a long time: obesity rates, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, development problems and mental health challenges,” Kelly McKenna, CEO of chronic coalition disease, which was in the White House for launch, said News Digital.
“Americans live shorter and sick lives despite the record of record medical care that exceeds other nations developed by orders of magnitude,” he said. “Maha’s agenda confronts that they disconnect from the front.”

McKenna added: “With the increasingly aware Americans of the role that factors such as ultraprocessed foods, environmental toxins, stress, trauma and bad dream play in chronic diseases, the demand for action transcends partisanism.”
Most common diseases in America
Andy Tanner, DO, Family Medicine doctor in West Virginia, said he is seeing more chronic diseases in patients, and pointed out that his state is the “oldest and most fat in the country.” He was also in the White House on Thursday.

“The great things that we see a lot are diabetes, hypertension and obesity, a kind of ‘the triumph’,” he told News Digital.
Some 38.4 million Americans had diabetes in 2021, according to the centers for disease control and prevention (CDC), with an excess of sugar that caused common symptoms of fatigue, blurred vision, hunger and thirst.
“Americans live shorter and more sick lives despite the record spending of medical care.”
Tanner works with his diabetic patients to change their diets and improve their blood sugar levels.
“[But the] The sad thing is that we are surrounded by bad food, “he said.” It is difficult to make good decisions of what we eat, and we are all guilty of that. “

Many people think that diabetes is just a “sugar disease,” he said, but can become a vascular problem as he advances, often leading to a coronary heart disease or stroke.
The doctor said he is seeing “younger and younger” patients with diabetes.

Given its association with “Bad Food”, diabetes goes “by hand” with obesity, according to Tanner.
The Maha’s report linked the rates of increasing obesity with the consumption of ultra -processed food, which comprise almost 70% of the calorie consumption of American children.
Tanner said that obesity can lead to the diagnosis of other chronic diseases, including hypertension (high blood pressure).

“Sometimes people with hypertension enter and report fatigue, headaches, sometimes blurred vision, sometimes with their very high blood pressure,” Digital’s News told News. “They can have some very serious symptoms of stroke or heart attack.”
Hypertension is known as the “silent murderer,” Tanner said, because many people do not know they have the condition.
Intelligent actions to take
In most cases, chronic disease resolution begins with obtaining regular physical activity and eating adequate foods, Tanner said.

“The diet and exercise are very important,” he said. “Those are so easy to prescribe doctors, but it is much more difficult for patients to achieve.”
Added, “[It’s] Sometimes it is difficult to return home and prepare a good and healthy meal, and it is easier to look for things that are not healthy. “

Psychiatrist Daniel Amen, MD, CEO of Brainmd in Los Angeles, also attended during the announcement of the Maha report.
“Chronic disease devastates mental health,” Amen told News Digital. “It increases stress hormones that damage the brain, interrupts sleep (which turns off 700 health promoting genes) and increases inflammation, which can cause anxiety and depression,” he warned.
