Dozens of House Republicans may vote to release files related to disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), the legislation’s Republican sponsor.

“I think we might have a Republican landslide. It could be 100 or more. I hope to obtain a veto-proof majority on this legislation when it comes to a vote.” Massie said Sunday in an interview on ABC’s “This Week.”

The House is set to consider a bill related to the disclosure of Epstein’s files. as soon as tuesday. The legislation would force the Justice Department to release files linked to its investigation of Epstein and his death in federal prison.

Four House Republicans — Massie, Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Nancy Mace (R-Colo.), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — had previously signed a petition to push for the vote. Reports of cnn and political He also suggested that many more Republicans might support the bill itself, since legislators from both parties have asked for transparency on the issue.

“Everything should come out except the names of the victims,” Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) told radio station KNLV last week.

In addition to passing the Senate, the legislation would likely have to overcome a presidential veto to take effect. Massie said he was hopeful that a decisive vote in the House would send a message to Senate Republicans who have so far shown little interest in the measure.

“I just hope [Senate Majority Leader] John Thune (R.S.D.) will do the right thing,” Massie said. “The pressure will be on if we get a big vote in the House.”

Spokespeople for House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Thune did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In a Truth Social post on Sunday night, Trump said Republicans should vote for the bill after previously trying to block it. His change of heart came after it became clear that many House Republicans planned to vote for the release of Epstein’s files. Such a vote would have highlighted a rare divide between Trump and Republican lawmakers.

Before Trump’s change, Massie suggested that the White House seemed eager to protect the president’s allies, who are supposedly referenced in the documents.

“I think he’s trying to protect a group of rich and powerful friends,” Massie said. “There are at least 20 people in those files, there are politicians, billionaires, film producers who are criminally involved and who have not been investigated.”

White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said Trump had taken steps to support Epstein’s victims and accused Democrats of focusing on the issue to score political points.

“By releasing tens of thousands of pages of documents, cooperating with the House Oversight Committee’s subpoena request, and President Trump’s recent call for more investigations into Epstein’s Democratic friends, the Trump administration has done more for victims than Democrats have,” Jackson said in a statement.
