Ed Orgeron gives advice to Sherrone Moore after saga that left him fired and arrested

Sherrone Moore’s career looks bleak, but a national champion coach believes she can bounce back.

The former Michigan head coach was fired last week after the university said he had an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member. Hours later, he was arrested after allegedly breaking into the employee’s home and threatening to commit suicide.

Moore, if convicted, faces more than half a decade behind bars, which would undoubtedly put another damper on any hope he may have of ever getting back on the sidelines.

But in a recent interview with News Digital, Ed Orgeron said anything is possible.

“I think coaches can always bounce back. Once you make changes in your personal life that may have affected you (losing your job and things like that), my dad used to tell me that time heals all. Once you make certain necessary adjustments, you might have to start over at a lower position and work your way up, I think people can always do that,” Orgeron said.

Moore’s wife reportedly called 911 and said her husband was “suicidal” after losing his job, and that one of his bail conditions was that he had to continue mental health treatment after undergoing two post-arrest evaluations.

“Hopefully, the things that bother the coach, hopefully he gets help if he needs it, and hopefully he makes those adjustments,” Orgeron said.

“I think the most important thing, though, is that he’s okay. And I wish for anyone in that situation to get it together first. Everything else will fall into place. So, coach, if you’re listening, do it right. And everything else will fall into place.”

Prosecutors accused Moore of contacting the employee through phone calls and text messages after the breakup, prompting the woman to contact the University of Michigan and cooperate in its investigation. Moore was subsequently fired from his position as a football coach, which prosecutors say prompted him to show up at her home.

Moore then allegedly “stormed” into the residence, grabbed a butter knife and a pair of kitchen scissors and began threatening his own life. According to prosecutors, Moore allegedly told the employee, “My blood is on your hands” and “You ruined my life.”

Prosecutors claimed Moore “terrorized” the employee and said they believed he was a “risk to public safety.”

Moore faces more than six years in prison if convicted. His next court date is scheduled for January 22.
