The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt issued a statement on Tuesday saying that the case had been sent to prosecutors and other relevant law agencies to take the necessary measures to recover the artifact.

The statement indicated that some photos that had circulated online were not of the missing bracelet, which was “a golden bracelet adorned with spherical accounts of Lazuli, belonging to King Amenemope.”

The photos that circulated online showed another element that remains on display in the museum, which never was missing.

The Ministry said the authorities delayed public with the disappearance, which came to light on September 9, in an effort to ensure the progress of the investigation. He said that all Egyptian air, sea and land crosses were alerted to prevent the country’s contraband device from smuggling, as has happened in other cases of smuggling.

But the reality of the bracelet that disappears was much simpler, although no less sad for Egypt.

The Egyptian Ministry announced Thursday that four suspects had been arrested. He said that on September 9, the bracelet of a safe was stolen within the Museum’s Restoration Laboratory for a restoration specialist who worked in the museum.

It was supposedly given to an acquaintance who has a splinter store in Cairo, who then sold it to the owner of a gold workshop for the equivalent of approximately $ 3,800. The owner of that store sold it for around $ 4,000 to another owner of the gold workshop, said the Ministry, who melted the bracelet to remodel in other gold jewels.

Together with his statement, the Interior Ministry launched a security camera video showing an owner of a store that received the bracelet, weighs it and then paid one of the suspects.

The Ministry said that all the individuals involved had been arrested, and the earnings of the sale of the bracelet recovered.

Users of social networks have expressed outrage not only that the bracelet was supposedly stolen by a restoration specialist who worked for the museum, but did not seem to recognize their true value. Many have remained lamenting the fact that the bracelet that managed to survive more than 3,000 years now has gone forever.
