Elizabeth Warren hits Trump like
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) Sounds the alarm of the “candidate for the king” Donald Trump.
In an open opinion article for Variety, Warren criticized the president and raised specific questions about News’s decision to cancel “The Late Show”.
She speculated whether the measure was linked to the persistent criticism of the host of Stephen Colbert to the president, or her condemnation for Global Paramount, the News parent company, to resolve a demand with Trump.
“Was it a coincidence that News canceled Colbert only three days after speaking?” Warren wrote in the article, published on Wednesday.
“Are we sure that this was not part of a wink agreement between the president and a giant corporation that needed something of his administration? If News made this decision for ‘purely financial’ reasons, why the moment? And why did Trump say ‘I hope he has played an important role in’ get Colbert to say goodbye?”
The politician said that these were “fair questions”, and that she is directed towards Paramount and the company with which he hopes to merge, Skydance. The merger will only happen if it is approved by the Trump administration.

Warren also wrote about the various ways in which Trump has used threats and demands as a means to channel money and gifts to his presidential library, and called him “the most corrupt president in US history.”
She said people “must show Trump that we see their march towards authoritarianism and that we will not be silenced.”
“All Americans need to talk,” Warren wrote. “Because yes, it is a pity that News has canceled ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’, but it is a threat to all of us that the best night show in the country has been canceled to cure a favor with an aspiring king.”

News announced its shocking cancellation of “The Late Show” last week, citing reason as a “financial decision against a challenging backdrop in Late Night.”
The network said that the decision to eliminate the program was not related “in any way to the performance, content or other issues of the program that occur in Paramount.”
