Speaking to a crowd in North Carolina, vice president JD Vance launched a new explanation for the president of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr pressing ABC to air out: everything was just a “joke.”
“What people will say is: ‘Well, you know, did you not take the FCC commissioner a tweet that said something bad?” Said Vance, referring to the comments of Donald Trump’s designated as “a joke on social networks.”
Vance was responding to a journalist who had asked how he was reconciling his praise passed by the protections of freedom of expression with Carr’s insinuation that the FCC would take regulatory measures if the ABC owned by Disney did not punish Kimmel for criticizing the response of conservatives to the mortal shooting of the right -handed Charlie Kirk’s influence.

The comments that Vance seems to refer to those who were not Carr made as a “joke on social networks”, but during an interview with the conservative Podcaster Benny Johnson last Wednesday.
“Frankly, when you see things like this, I mean, look, we can do this in the easy way or in the difficult way. These companies can find ways to change the behavior, take measures, frankly, in Kimmel, or there will be additional work for the FCC ahead,” Carr said.
“And again, you know, the FCC will have remedies that we could see,” he continued.
Carr had a completely straight face when he made those comments. Neither of the two men laughed. When the Kimmel program was suspended hours later, Johnson proudly said that it was for what Car said in his podcast.
“This is what made Kimmel say goodbye. Just here. Look,” he wrote on X along with a video of his exchange. “It is called soft power. The left is used all the time. Thanks to President Trump, the right has also learned to exercise power.”
Vance, meanwhile, insisted on Wednesday that the administration really had nothing to do with Kimmel’s suspension.

“What is the action of the government in which the Trump administration has dedicated itself to kicking Jimmy Kimmel or no one else out of the air? Zero,” he said. “What government pressure have we contributed to tell people that they are not allowed to say what they think? Zero.”
But nothing that is taking place seems to be a joke for Trump. In a social publication of truth, Disney is enraged bringing Kimmel back into the air on Tuesday, the president effectively told ABC to support him.
“I think we are going to try ABC in this. Let’s see how we do it. The last time I went after them, they gave me $ 16 million. This sounds even more lucrative. A true group of losers!” He wrote, referring to a demand that the network resolved with him at the end of last year.
As Carr has been criticized for his comments, he has minimized with the suspension of Kimmel.
“Jimmy Kimmel is in the situation in which he is due to his qualifications, not for everything that has happened at the level of the federal government,” Carr said in a forum in New York on Monday.

In social networks, Carr has repeatedly said that Kimmel’s suspension was simply the Disney result and the “local television stations” that oppose his comments.

In another publication that day, he said that the Democrats “simply do not support local television stations, for the first time in years, were in charge of a national programmer and chose to exercise their legal right to avoid programming.”
