Florida wins the NCAA tournament on Houston after erasing a 12 -point deficit excitingly
The Florida Gators have been crowned champions of the 2025 NCAA male basketball tournament after defeating the Houston Couars, 65-63, excitingly on Monday night.
The Gators had not won the national title in the hard wood since they did it consecutive in 2006 and 2007 with Billy Donovan. This is the third national program title.
Florida fought against the annoying Couchars all night, returning in the second half to win everything.

As expected, both teams played suffocating defense during the 40 minutes on the court, and the last two minutes of the second half became a round trip whirlwind.
The result was reduced to multiple defensive stops for the Gators, starting with the Will Richard’s block in a jumper that was followed by a turnover of Joseph Tugler after a battle under the hoop with 1:22 remaining to play.

Florida got LJ Cryer, Houston’s top scorer at night with 19 points, to change the ball with Alex Condon recording the robbery. At the other end of the floor, since Florida, below 63-62, was desperate for a cube, Alijah Martin was committed by Tugler and could go to the free throw line with the potential to take the lead with 46 seconds on the clock.
With the ice in his veins, Martin buried both shots of charity stripes to take the advantage of 64-63. Needing another stop, Florida’s defense took Emanuel Sharp of Houston to cut the ball from her knee and left the limits with remaining 26 seconds.
Denzel Aberdeen eventually eaten again with the shooting clock now off, although he would only make one of his two free kick attempts. Then, with 65-63, Houston had the opportunity to tie the game or win everything with a triple.
The best defensive possession of the night for Florida came at the perfect moment, since Houston could not make his game with script outside and Sharp finally went to raise a three remaining five seconds, but a good closure made him release the ball while jumping.

Shapp was not allowed to touch the ball due to the double sink rule, and with the clock marking down, a fight for the ball led to the final horn blowing and the gators celebrated.
It was a difficult aspect for the Coupars, since they had an advantage of 12 points at one point in the second half. They were also part-time leaders at 31-28 after keeping Florida only 37.9% of shots, including 4 of 14 of three-point territory.
Walter Clayton, the top scorer of the Gators throughout the season with 18.5 points averaged by game, also remained without score in the first half.
But Clayton eventually fell 11 in the second half, while Alex Condon (12 points, seven rebounds, four robberies) and the top scorer of the team, Will Richard with 18 points, eight rebounds and two assists, were crucial on the return.

The Alamadome saw some fantastic Final Four games, and the male basketball season was limited with one of the best battles between two seeds No. 1 in the National Championship in recent memory.
The Cougars were close to ensuring the first national program championship, but the Gators are back at the top for the first time in almost two decades after a hard victory.
