Florida woman charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting Rihanna
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Florida woman accused of shooting into Rihanna’s locked Los Angeles home was charged Tuesday with one count of attempted murder and 10 counts of assault on a person with a semi-automatic firearm, court records showed Tuesday.
The district attorney’s office said Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, was charged in the Sunday afternoon shooting outside the superstar’s Beverly Hills-area home. No one was injured and it was unclear if the Grammy Award-winning artist was home at the time.
Court records show Ortiz was also charged with three counts of shooting at a vehicle or inhabited dwelling. All 14 charges are felonies. The suspect, who was being held on $10.2 million bail, was brought to court to face arraignment in the afternoon.
Ortiz appeared in court behind glass in a custody area while waiting for the judge to call his case. She was wearing blue prison clothes with her blonde hair in braids and was talking to a lawyer through the glass.

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell told media gathered for a news conference on a different topic early Tuesday that 10 people were home at the time. He identified the house as Rihanna’s, but did not say whether she, her partner A$AP Rocky or her children were in the house when the shots were fired.
McDonnell said investigators believe Ortiz drove to the area from Florida, but it’s unclear when. Public records show her most recent address was in Orlando and that she has been a licensed speech pathologist for more than a decade.
Authorities have not said if he has any connection to Rihanna.
Ortiz was arrested Sunday afternoon after the shooting and a gun was recovered, police said.
It was not clear if he has an attorney. Voicemails could not be left at a phone number listed in his name, and no one immediately responded to an email seeking comment sent to an address listed in his name. An email sent to the public defender’s office also did not receive an immediate response.
The News sent emails seeking comment from Rihanna’s publicist and manager.
KABC-TV aired video that appeared to show five bullet holes in the front door of the home. The news station obtained audio from police dispatch that says 10 shots were fired.
In 2018, a man was accused of breaking into another Rihanna home in the Hollywood Hills and spending 12 hours there. The man pleaded no contest to felony counts of stalking and vandalism and a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest in 2019. He was sentenced to probation.
Rihanna, a nine-time Grammy Award winner, has 14 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including “We Found Love,” “Work,” “Umbrella” and “Disturbia.” She founded the makeup brand Fenty Beauty in 2017.
She and A$AP Rocky announced the birth of their third child, a daughter named Rocki Irish Mayers, in September.
