Gavin Newsom savagely mocks Trump
California Gov. Gavin Newsom mocked President Donald Trump on multiple fronts over the president’s hosting of the Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday. (The recorded ceremony will air on News on December 23.)
As Trump took the lectern to honor recipients like Sylvester Stallone and the band Kiss, Newsom took center stage at X with a mock photo of the governor accepting the inaugural (and fake) Kennedy Center Peace Prize from the president.

The mockery derailed the embarrassing sight of Trump receiving FIFA’s first peace prize during News’s Friday broadcast of the World Cup soccer draw, seen by many as a consolation prize after Trump was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
But Newsom’s post went much deeper.
“EXCELLENT NIGHT ACCEPTING THE FIRST KENNEDY CENTER PEACE PRIZE!!!” Newsom’s press office wrote in the president’s habit of writing in all caps.
“THE AUDIENCE WAS AMAZING (CHAIRS NOT GREAT, LIGHTING DISASTER). TRUMP AND JANITOR RIC GRENELL LET THE ENTIRE PLACE GO TO HELL!!” He continued, calling the president of the center.
“I TOLD THEM WHILE TRUMP FALLS ASLEEP: CHANGE IT TO NEWSOM CENTER!! ONLY I CAN FIX IT!!! THE CROWD WENT CRAZY: PEOPLE FAINTED, CRIED, SPEAK IN TONGUES!!!” The post continued. “EVEN RFK JR. WAS SO MOVED AND INSPIRED BY ME THAT HE GRAB SOME TWEEZERS AND TRIED TO REMOVE THE BRAINWORM! A HISTORIC NIGHT FOR AMERICA. WELCOME!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! — GCN”
In another sign of a possible name change for the arts venue, Trump on Sunday included a clip in which he called the Kennedy Center the “Trump Kennedy Center” and feigned embarrassment. He also included a prediction of how “fake news” will review his performance and a boast about potential ratings during the 12-minute opening speech.
His takeover of the entertainment complex culminated in his installation as chairman of the board and, ultimately, host of the annual ceremony, at none other than a network he sued.
Newsom, who is in the conversation about the top Democratic prospects for president in 2028, has already proven himself to be a commander-in-chief when it comes to trolling Trump.
