Harrison Ford explains how a study executive once said
In the early years of his career, Harrison Ford received advice that could have derailed everything.
While under a contract with Columbia Pictures in 1966, Ford reflected on his first struggles during a Wednesday interview with Variety. The role in the matter? A small part in the 1966 movie “Dead Heat on Tray-Go-Round”, one that earned him only $ 150 per week.
It was then that things took an unexpected turn.
“They called me to the office of the head of the new talent program, and he told me that I had no future in the business,” Ford recalled. The comment did not shook Ford’s ambition, but it was not the end of the uninquented council.

“I wanted my name to change. He thought ‘Harrison Ford’ was a name too pretentious to a young man,” Ford said.
Then came the suggestion about his appearance.
“He asked me to cut the haircut like Elvis Presley,” he said, a suggestion that he did not take into account.
Years later, after Ford found a massive success, he reappeared the same executive. He remembered to have known him “on the other side of a room full of people.” The executive gave him a card.
He said: “I missed my assumption.”

Ford, of course, became a Hollywood icon, better known for its roles in the “Star Wars” franchise and “Indiana Jones” movies.
In a 2023 interview with Ali Plumb of BBC Radio 1, he emotionally reflected on the legacy of Indiana Jones and how he could make the character relate in decades. Ford’s words played Plumb, who offered his own opinion about the actor’s legacy.
“Can I say in the name of all fans, thanks. It has been a great adventure? We love you very much. I don’t want to make you blush or anything, but you mean the world for us and thanks,” Plumb said.
