The 2026 Golden Globes aired on News on Sunday night.
Comedian and actress Nikki Glaser once again hosted the star-studded ceremony, which honors some of the best and brightest in television, film and podcasting of 2025. Glaser pulled no punches in her opening monologue, criticizing News, criticizing Leonardo DiCaprio and even throwing in an Epstein joke.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another,” which led the film nominations ceremony with nine nominations, won four awards, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Screenplay and Best Director. Teyana Taylor took home the award for Best Performance by a Supporting Actress and gave an emotional speech at the end of the ceremony.
Netflix’s “Adolescence” won the most awards of any television show, including Best Limited Television Series. Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty all took home trophies for their performances.
Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” won the film and box office achievement award. Swedish musician and composer Ludwig Göransson, who has worked with Coogler on several projects, won the award for Best Original Score.
The Golden Globes introduced a new category this year: Best Podcast. “Good Hang with Amy Poehler,” which was released on Spotify in 2025, triumphed.
Below, News captured the big wins, the surprises, and all the special moments from the ceremony.

The 2026 Golden Globes were shaping up to be a big night for “Sinners”… then things went downhill.
While the horror hit took home awards for Best Original Score and Best Film and Box Office, it suffered some tough losses in its top nominated categories, including Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Original Song, and Best Male Actor in a Drama (which would have been Michael B. Jordan’s first Golden Globe). and Best Film – Drama.
People online were No happy.
Reactions ranged from confusion to anger over “Sinners” being defeated by films like “One Battle After Another,” “KPop Demon Hunters,” and “Hamnet.” For the film to be one of the most talked about of 2025, its participation at the Golden Globes surely did not reflect it.
There is still hope that “Sinners” will do better at the Oscars (nominations will be announced later this month). But for now, fans of the film are furious about what they felt were some unfair losses.:

I…didn’t see it coming. But “Hamnet” received a lot of praise for being a powerful depiction of pain, and is a compelling film. Although I really didn’t think it would beat “Sinners”. One had a much bigger impact last year and Ryan Coogler’s script is incomparable. I can’t believe this. — Man
Wow. I’m shocked! I was rooting for “Sinners,” but that’s not because “Hamnet” wasn’t good. It’s an incredible movie and was one of my most memorable movie experiences last year, along with “Sinners” and “Weapons.” Wow. — Ireland

I definitely thought Jordan had a good chance of winning this category. Fortunately for us, Golden Globe voters generally don’t overlap with those of other awards bodies, so there’s still plenty of room for Jordan to win something else in the future. I keep hope alive! — Ireland

Yes, this victory feels good. Buckley’s performance in “Hamnet” is very emotional and devastating; Honestly, the highlight of the movie for me. Being nominated for a Golden Globe for the first time and winning it is just incredible.

Kevin Hart (“Kevin Hart: Acting My Age”)

Wanda Sykes is the realest for having no limits during the Golden Globes. While presenting the Best Performance category in a Stand-Up Comedy category, the comedian made funny comments to nominees Kevin Hart, Brett Goldstein, Kumail Nanjiani and Sarah Silverman. However, Sykes held nothing back as he criticized Bill Maher, telling him: “You give us a lot. But I would love a little less.”
However, no one had it worse than Ricky Gervais, who was lucky not to attend the awards ceremony or he would have been told off too. Sykes saved his best material for Gervais, an avowed atheist who has been criticized for telling anti-trans jokes, telling him smugly: “I love you for not being here… Because if you win, I can accept the award on your behalf and you will thank God and the trans community.”
Gervais ended up winning the award, and Sykes made sure to thank the group and the religions he insulted in their name. That’s what you call getting the last laugh!

“I just want to thank the audience for coming,” Ryan Coogler, the director of “Sinners,” he said while accepting the award.
Finally! I almost thought this award would go to “Zootopia 2” after it grossed over a billion dollars at the box office. But what “Sinners” accomplished last year—putting butts in seats and getting people excited about the theatrical experience again—deserves some formal recognition. It may be a frivolous industry award, but “Sinners” believes it is the most deserving.

I can’t say enough about Rose’s performance in “If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You.” I was surprised the first time I screened the film, how it deftly balanced drama and comedy. Her portrayal of motherhood, especially the difficult times, seemed very authentic. A well deserved victory.

We knew that at some point tonight there would be an Epstein prank. It’s no surprise that host Nikki Glaser quickly introduced one during her opening monologue: “I can’t believe how much star power we have in this room tonight. It’s crazy. There are so many celebrities, and by celebrities I mean people who are on ‘a list’ that’s been heavily redacted.” Intelligent!

Nikki Glaser wasted no time getting to the scathing Golden Globes jokes.
“You had a brilliant career, you worked with great directors, you won three Golden Globes, Oscars… and you did all that before your girlfriend turned 30,” he said of Leonardo DiCaprio, nominated for his leading role in “One battle after another.” He is known for dating women much younger than him.
Glaser quickly acknowledged that this joke was not very original.
“Leo, I’m sorry I made that joke. It’s cheap. I tried not to, but, we don’t know anything else about you, man. There’s nothing else. Open up! I’m serious! I looked! I looked! The most in-depth interview you’ve ever given was for Teen Beat magazine in 1991. Is your favorite food still ‘pasta, pasta, more pasta?'”

Well, I’m crying after Teyana’s speech. SO happy that this award went to her: her first Golden Globe! Despite some of the criticism about how her “Battle After Battle” character is treated in the movie (which are valid), she gave a very solid performance, so this win was well deserved.
Thank goodness he decided to write an acceptance speech for this moment, and what a way to end it. “To my brown sister and the brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a burden… We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”
Let’s go Teyana!

Selena Gomez stunned at the Golden Globes on Sunday, gracing the red carpet in what looked like a simple black velvet dress with a touch of white feathers. However, quite a bit of work went into designing the glamorous dress.
According FashionGómez’s designer, Chanel’s creative director, Matthieu Blazy, and his team took an enormous effort 323 hours to construct the actor’s dress, which featured a black bodice adorned with more than 200 flowers made of feathers, organza and silk chiffon. Gómez, nominated for best comedy actress, also used all the Chanel accessories to complete her look. Check it out above.

‘Sinners’ Suffered Some Hard Losses at the Golden Globes and People Are Angry
I just think Sinners is better than all these other movies.

I just think Sinners is better than all these other movies.

Agata Grzybowska
‘Hamnet’ wins best drama film
WINNER: “Hamnet” (Focus Features)
“Frankenstein” (Netflix)
“It was just an accident” (NEON)
“The Secret Agent” (NEON)
“Sentimental value” (NEON)
“Sinners” (Warner Bros. Pictures)
— Ireland

‘One Battle After Another’ wins best film (musical or comedy)
WINNER: “One Battle After Another” (Warner Bros. Pictures)
“Blue Moon” (Sony Pictures Classics)
“Bugonia” (Focus Characteristics)
“Marty Supreme” (A24)
“There is no other option” (NEON)

Wagner Moura wins the award for best male performance in a film – Drama
WINNER: Wagner Moura (“The Secret Agent”)
Joel Edgerton (“Dream Train”)
Oscar Isaac (“Frankenstein”)
Dwayne Johnson (“The Crushing Machine”)
Michael B. Jordan (“Sinners”)
Jeremy Allen White (“Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nothing”)
Oh, I haven’t seen “The Secret Agent” yet so I can’t say that Wagner Moura doesn’t deserve this award. However, I don’t like what this might mean for Michael B. Jordan’s chances for the rest of this awards season. I thought I had a good chance here. — Man
I definitely thought Jordan had a good chance of winning this category. Fortunately for us, Golden Globe voters generally don’t overlap with those of other awards bodies, so there’s still plenty of room for Jordan to win something else in the future. I keep hope alive! — Ireland

Jessie Buckley wins Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama
WINNER: Jessie Buckley (“Hamnet”)
Jennifer Lawrence (“Die My Love”)
Renate Reinsve (“Sentimental Value”)
Julia Roberts (“After the Hunt”)
Tessa Thompson (“Hedda”)
Eva Victor (“Sorry, baby”)
Yes, this victory feels good. Buckley’s performance in “Hamnet” is very emotional and devastating; Honestly, the highlight of the movie for me. Being nominated for a Golden Globe for the first time and winning it is just incredible.

“The Studio” (Apple TV)
“Abbott Elementary” (ABC)
“The Bear” (FX on Hulu)

Ricky Gervais wins the award for best performance in stand-up comedy on television
Ricky Gervais (“Ricky Gervais: Mortality”)
Bill Maher (“Bill Maher: Is anyone else watching this?”)
Brett Goldstein (“Brett Goldstein: The Second Best Night of Your Life”)
Kevin Hart (“Kevin Hart: Acting My Age”)
Kumail Nanjiani (“Kumail Nanjiani: Night Thoughts”)
Sarah Silverman (“Sarah Silverman: Postmortem”)

WINNER: Erin Doherty (“Adolescence”)
Carrie Coon (“The White Lotus”)
Hannah Einbinder (“Tricks”)
Catherine O’Hara (“The Studio”)

“The Pit” (HBO Max)
“The Diplomat” (Netflix)
“More” (Apple TV)
“Compensation” (Apple TV)
“Slow Horses” (Apple TV)
“The White Lotus” (HBO MAX)
Noah Wyle also won the award for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Drama earlier in the ceremony. “The Pitt” remained at the top of my list of favorite TV series throughout 2025.
Rhea Seehorn wins best female performance in a television series – Drama
Rhea Seehorn (“More”)
Kathy Bates (“Matlock”)
Britt Lower (“Indemnification”)
Helen Mirren (“MobLand”)

‘All Her Fault’ Star Duke McCloud, 6, Is Golden Globes Best Dressed
Duke McCloud, who starred in the wildly addictive Peacock series “All Her Fault,” was the best-dressed star on the Golden Globes red carpet.
McCloud’s character is kidnapped in the series, so he doesn’t have much screen time, but we were clearly missing a lot of cuteness on our screens.
The blue suit is by far the most adorable thing at the awards ceremony.

Victor Juca
‘The Secret Agent’ wins best film (non-English language)
WINNER: “The Secret Agent” (NEON) – Brazil
“It was just an accident” (NEON) – France
“There is no other option” (NEON) – South Korea

“Elio” (Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)
“Little Amélie or the character of the rain” (GKIDS)
“Zootopia 2” (Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)
No surprise there! Although my personal favorite was “Zootopia 2”. — Man
I loved “KPop Demon Hunters” and I still think there weren’t enough people talking about “Elio,” which I loved too. — Ireland

Warner Bros.
‘Sinners’ wins Golden Globe for cinematographic and box office achievements
WINNER: “Sinners” (Warner Bros. Pictures)
“Avatar: Fire and Ash” (Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)
“F1” (Apple Original Movies)
“KPop Demon Hunters” (Netflix)
“Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” (Paramount Pictures)
“Weapons” (Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema)
“Wicked: Forever” (Universal Pictures)
“Zootopia 2” (Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)
“I just want to thank the audience for being there,” said Ryan Coogler, director of “Sinners,” when accepting the award.

Sara Shatz/FX
Michelle Williams wins best female performance in a miniseries
WINNER: Michelle Williams (“Dying For Sex”)
Claire Danes (“The Beast in Me”)

WINNER: Stephen Graham (“Adolescence”)
Jacob Elordi (“The Narrow Road to the Deep North”)
Paul Giamatti (“Black Mirror”)
Charlie Hunnam (“Monster: The Ed Gein Story”)
Jude Law (“Black Rabbit”)
Matthew Rhys (“The Beast in Me”)
No surprise here. Graham has been on a roll with this role in “Adolescence,” and it is well deserved.

A24
Timothée Chalamet wins the award for best performance by a male actor in a motion picture (musical or comedy)
WINNER: Timothée Chalamet (“Marty Supreme”)
George Clooney (“Jay Kelly”)
Leonardo DiCaprio (“One battle after another”)
Ethan Hawke (“Blue Moon”)
Lee Byunng-hun (“No Choice”)
Jesse Plemons (“Bugonia”)
I only saw that this award went to Timothée or Leonardo, but it seems that the “Marty Supreme” rumor is still strong. After years of being nominated, Timothée finally broke through with an award-worthy performance. Good for him.

A24
Rose Byrne wins Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
WINNER: Rose Byrne (If I had legs, I’d kick you”)
Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked: For Good”)
Kate Hudson (“Blue Sung Song”)
Chase Infiniti (“One battle after another”)
Amanda Seyfried (“The Will of Ann Lee”)
Emma Stone (“Bugonia”)
I can’t say enough about Rose’s performance in “If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You.” I was surprised the first time I screened the film, how it deftly balanced drama and comedy. Her portrayal of motherhood, especially the difficult times, seemed very authentic. A well deserved victory.
