Controversy arose last week when former “High School Musical” star Ashley Tisdale published a damning essay for The Cut called “Breaking Up From My Toxic Mom Gang.”

Many on the Internet speculated that Tisdale was referring to a group of mothers that included other celebrities, including Mandy Moore, Meghan Trainor and Hilary Duff.

Although a representative for Tisdale told TMZ on Monday that Tisdale’s essay did not reference that group of moms in particular, Duff’s husband added some fuel to the fire with an Instagram Story on Tuesday.

The producer superimposed her head on the photo of Tisdale used by The Cut to promote her essay and changed the caption to read: “When you’re the most self-obsessed deaf person in the world, other moms tend to focus on their actual little kids.”

“Read my interview with @thecut,” he wrote alongside the edited photo. She added the caption: “A group of moms tell it all through the eyes of a father.”

News has reached out to representatives for Duff, Koma and Tisdale for further comment.

In the essay, Tisdale wrote about how she felt excluded from her group of mom friends over time.

“I remember being left out of a couple of group meetings, and I knew them because Instagram made sure to feed me every Instagram photo and story,” she wrote in her essay.

“On another occasion, at one of Mother’s dinners, I realized where I was sitting with her, which was at the end of the table, away from the rest of the women. I began to feel frozen outside the group, noticing in every way that they seemed to exclude me.”

Tisdale said she finally sent a fiery text leaving the group once and for all.

“This is too high school for me and I don’t want to participate in it anymore,” Tisdale said in a message to her fellow moms, which she admitted “wasn’t exactly well received.”

Tisdale has not commented on the essay since it was published on New Year’s Day.
