The remains of three hostages most held in the Gaza Strip have been recovered, said the Israeli army on Sunday, while the strikes continued in the Palestinian territory.

The army identified the remains such as those of Yonatan Samran, 21, ofra Keidar, 70, and Shay Levinson, 19. The three were killed during the terrorist attack of October 7 of Hamas in Israel that caused the current war. The militant group backed by Iraní still has 50 hostages, however, it is believed that less than 25 are alive.

The military did not provide any detail about the recovery operation.

“The campaign to return to the hostages continues constantly and is happening along with the campaign against Iran,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a statement. “We will not rest until we return to all our kidnapped home, both the living and the dead.”

Kobi Sameran said in a Facebook post that his son’s remains were returned about what Yonatan’s 23rd birthday would have been.

“Jonati, we have had the privilege of living on his side 21 and a half and a half of light, and today, under a new light,” his father wrote on Facebook. “You returned to us, a beloved son, wrapped in the light of heroism, of faith, of an entire nation.”

Netanyahu has rejected those terms, saying that Israel will continue the war until all hostages are returned and Hamas is defeated or disarmed and sent into exile.
