Julie Bowen is opening on a surprising health development that few fans knew.

The actor, better known for playing Claire Dunphy in the ABC situation comedy “Modern Family”, recently appeared in an episode on Tuesday of the podcast “Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum”. During the interview, it arose that Rosenbaum headed to a procedure after his conversation, which led him to ask Bowen if he had undergone surgery.

“I have a pacemaker … I forget all the time,” he admitted.

He continued explaining that she was diagnosed with sick breast syndrome, a condition that, according to the Cleveland clinic, “can give it a heartbeat that is too slow, too fast or a combination of both.”

Rosenbaum pointed out that he has a “low resting heart rate”, to which Bowen replied that she also used to do it, but now her heart rate is established so that she does not fall below 45 beats per minute.

“When did they know this? Was this at birth?” asked.

Bowen recalled that she “was a broker throughout high school” and that “she had always had a low heart rate.”

But it wasn’t until later that something felt for rhythm. While they were on vacation together, Bowen’s sister, then a medical student, discovered an irregularity and told him to see a cardiologist.

After filming a pilot, she took her sister’s advice. What followed was an immediate procedure to receive his pacemaker.

The actor admitted that the initial clash hit hard. Only 29 at that time, he feared that his life was over.

“Every time I was relaxed, really relaxed, it would be like watching television or movie or something, it was as if I had been containing breathing for a while, that feeling of stunning, and said: ‘You will drive a car and you will kill someone,'” he recalled.

When he grabbed his new reality, Bowen said he replied: “Give me the damn pacemaker.”
