Japanese PM makes surprising comment about Barron Trump at White House dinner
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi wished Barron Trump a happy birthday at a White House dinner on Thursday, giving an ego boost to her smiling father, President Donald Trump, who was standing next to her. (Watch the video below).
The prime minister said through an interpreter:
“I would like to begin by extending my sincere congratulations on two important anniversaries. The first is a birthday celebration. Donald, tomorrow is the birthday of your son, Mr. Barron Trump. And I know that he has grown into a very tall and handsome gentleman.”
Laughter filled the room as Trump smiled and seemed to say, “That’s true.”
“The way I see you, Donald, it’s very clear where he got it from. Of course, from his parents,” he continued. “There’s no doubt about it. So Donald, if I may ask, please convey my sincere wishes for a happy birthday.”

Takaichi then congratulated Trump and the United States on the country’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
Barron Trump, the only child of the president and first lady Melania Trump and the youngest of the president’s five children, is a sophomore at New York University taking classes at its Washington, DC campus. On Friday he turned 20 years old.

Earlier in the day, the Japanese leader endured an awkward moment when Trump joked about Pearl Harbor.
When asked by a reporter why he didn’t warn his allies about his attack on Iran, Trump responded: “You don’t want to make too many signals to begin with, you know? When we came in, we came in very forcefully and we didn’t tell anyone because we wanted surprise.”
“Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Okay?” continuous. “Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor? It’s okay? Right?”
Near the beginning of the session, Takaichi said that Trump was the only person who could achieve global peace. But Japan has not committed to Trump’s insistence on sending warships to the Strait of Hormuz to protect commercial vessels. Iran has effectively closed the critical waterway by threatening to attack attempted crossings.
