In terms of emotional maturity, Jason Bateman has stopped development.

Or at least he did it in a very funny moment for him. Golden Globes 2026.

During Sunday night’s ceremony, Bateman and his “SmartLess” podcast co-hosts, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, presented the award for Best Female Actress in a TV Series, Comedy or Musical. However, as the three actors took the stage, the ceremony announcer introduced Bateman in a hilariously brutal manner.

“Let’s welcome the presenters of ‘Smartless!’ Sean Hayes, Will Arnett and, a guy who has never been my thing, Jason Bateman.”

Bateman slowed down and looked around for a moment, looking completely confused and upset. Hayes moved on and began reading the teleprompter as if Bateman wasn’t furious.

“This year’s nominees for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy truly raised the bar by delivering nuanced and unparalleled performances,” Hayes began.

“So let’s just pretend that didn’t happen?” Bateman intervened with his back to the audience.

“That?” Hayes said.

“The announcer? He said, ‘Jason Bateman isn’t really my thing?’ Who says that? Bateman said.

“Honestly, a lot of people say that,” Arnett said, sheepishly.

“Is that so? Really?” Bateman said with quiet intensity.

“Yeah, man, you’re not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s okay,” Arnett said.

“I think you’re great,” Hayes said, trying to deflate the tension. “I loved ‘Ozark.’”

“Thank you,” Bateman said before pausing and realizing Hayes was just trying to placate him.

“What was it about?” Bateman asked Hayes suspiciously.

“It was three seasons too long,” Hayes said.

“Look, man!… Dude… Somehow you manage to make a ‘Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical or Comedy’ category about yourself.” “That’s just…wow, that’s crazy.”

“Do you understand now?” the announcer said, earning laughter from the audience.

And just for your information, Jean Smart won the category for his role in “Hacks.”

Although the entire interaction was clearly a written sketch, we’d like to think this is the dynamic between these three men all along.
