John Stamos says he gave Brian Wilson’s news
The actor of “Full House”, John Stamos, learned of the death of the founding member of Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, like most others, but had the unique duty to give that news to the band member Mike Love, who “did not say a word” for several hours later.
Wilson, Love’s cousin and the main composer of the band, died on Wednesday at 82.
Love cried his cousin in a speech on Thursday while being included in the Hall of Fame of the Composers of 2025, where Stos presented him. Stamos learned of Wilson’s death by landing in New York City for LOVE induction.
“I was with Mike, I got out of the plane and received the text,” Stamos told the New York Post on the red carpet on Thursday. “I thought, ‘oh boy, I guess I’m better [tell him]. ‘I said:’ Mike, your cousin died ‘and his face stayed blank. “
“We sat in the car for two and a half hours or so … he didn’t say a word,” he continued.
Stamos said he didn’t ask the singer how he felt.
“I knew how it felt,” he said Thursday.
The actor experienced the loss of his best friend and “brother” of 50 years, Mike Owen, to a sudden heart attack last year. He also lost his former co -star of “Full House” Bob Saget for an accidental head injury in 2022.
Love and Wilson founded The Beach Boys in 1961 along with the brothers of Wilson Dennis and Carl, along with Al Jardine. Wilson wrote and produced most of his songs in addition to his work as a singer, while Love became the main vocalist of the band.
His relationship tense when love sued Wilson for defamation for his 1991 memoirs, “isn’t it pleasant: my own story”, claiming that Wilson and the editor Harpercollins portrayed him inaccumer and minimized his contributions to the band to the band?

Love again sued Wilson in 1993, claiming that he deserved songs for song composition in dozens of Beach Boys songs that did not list him as an official writer. According to reports, Love received $ 13 million and retroactive credits of song composition on 35 tracks.
Wilson’s cause of death has not yet been publicly determined or shared. According to the reports, the singer and composer had been diagnosed with schizoofective disorder and bipolar disorder, and had regularly experienced auditory hallucinations since the 1960s.
His death caused sincere tributes around the world, including one from Love.
“Today, the world lost a genius, and lost a Blood cousin and my partner in music,” he wrote Thursday on Instagram. “Brian Wilson was not just the heart of the Beach Boys, it was the soul of our sound … I’ll miss you forever, my beloved cousin.”
