Former vice president Kamala Harris says that the governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz (D), was not his best selection as a formula partner in the 2024 elections. He spilled in his first option in the next memories “107 Days”, called for the amount of time he had as a democratic nominee.

Harris revealed in an excerpt published on Tuesday by the Atlantic who actually wanted the then Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg to be his vice presidential candidate. According to reports, Harris wrote that “it would have been an ideal partner, if I were a heterosexual white man.”

“But we were already asking for a lot of America: accepting a woman, a black woman, a black woman married to a Jewish man,” Harris wrote, according to the Atlantic. “Part of me wanted to say Fuck him, let’s do it. But knowing what was at stake, it was too big risk. ”

She continued: “And I think Pete also knew, our mutual sadness.”

If those fears were justified forever it will continue to be a mystery, since Harris chose Walz and finally lost the elections against Donald Trump. Jonathan Lemire of Atlantic added on Tuesday that Harris does not disclose in his book if Walz knew it was his second option.

The extract confirmed that Buttigieg was at the top of a short list of eight people, and although it does not name the other seven, the selections are rumored before the elections included the governor of California Gavin Newsom, the governor of Pensylvania, Josh Shapiro, and the governor of Maryland Wes Moore.

According to reports, Harris described Buttigieg in his memoirs as “a sincere public servant with the rare talent of frameting liberal arguments in a way that makes it possible for conservatives to listen to them.” She added: “I love Pete. I love working with Pete.”
