Kermit the Frog’s dream has always been to spread joy and happiness, and that is exactly what he did with a recent visit to a graduation ceremony.

The beloved green amphibian delivered a graduation speech to the 2025 class of the University of Maryland on Thursday, where he received rounding applause. Drappe in what Muppet himself described as “a small cap and gown,” delivered words of encouragement and inspiration, along with a prognosis with a “100% frog probability.”

“I feel honored to share some words of wisdom about three things that are close to my heart: find your people, make the jump and make connections,” Kermit said.

The green legend said that the creator of Muppets, Jim Henson, who died in 1990, attended the institution.

Kermit said that Henson taught him about “finding your people” and taught him that “the only thing about you must always be shared.”

“There is no guarantee that the show is always good or that it goes without problems, or does not have its, UH, hecklers,” he said. “But the program must continue. And if you are with your people, then you will not have to do it alone, because life is not a solo act.”

Kermit then discussed the importance of friendship and community, and reminded the graduates that “they are always attentive to the old friends you just met.”
