Kevin Bacon on Monday shared a heartbreaking tribute video on Instagram to his late friend Rob Reiner, who was found dead alongside his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, in their California home. Reiner had directed Bacon in the 1992 drama “A Few Good Men.”

“I’m not sure how to do this, but Rob Reiner gave me a job on ‘A Few Good Men,'” Bacon said. “I guess it was sometime in the ’90s, and I was thrilled to get that job, because, people may or may not know this, but ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ is my favorite movie of all time.”

Reiner had proven himself to be a top-notch director with a cult classic comedy in “Spinal Tap,” an iconic coming-of-age film in “Stand By Me,” a top-notch fantasy romance in “The Princess Bride,” a horror thriller in “Misery,” and the beloved romantic comedy “When Harry Met Sally.”

“A Few Good Men” was written by “West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin and stars Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore and Kiefer Sutherland. Moore wrote in her own tribute that it is difficult to process “the unfathomable devastation” of losing Rob and Michele Reiner.

Bacon continued tearfully remembering having starred in the judicial classic: “And when he called me, I was very excited.” He later added, “But making that movie was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a set.”

Cruise shared similar sentiments with The New York Times in 1992, praising Reiner for his “sweetness” and as “a guy who wants, almost desires, his actors to be great.” Bacon, whose wife, Kyra Sedgwick, was pregnant during production, still remembers their daily lunches at the time.

“He was a lot of fun,” Bacon said of Reiner. “And it really all comes from the top, you know? You can set a tone where people feel like we’re working hard but also working hard in a safe, enjoyable, fun situation. You know, we have lunch together every day.”

Bacon recounted the meals shared with the director and said, “I had never done that with a director before or since. I had never gone to lunch. And Michele was there, and the two of them were so good together. Kyra came, she was pregnant, and she brought [our son] Travis. “It was a magical moment.”

Reiner and his wife were found dead Sunday in their Brentwood home in Los Angeles.

Their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested in connection with his parents’ deaths. The late director collaborated with his son on the 2015 film “Being Charlie,” a drama loosely based on Nick Reiner’s own experiences with addiction.

Bacon ended his video by saying, “I’m sending love to everyone who knew him, because I know everyone is hurting today.”
