Kevin Spacey says he is homeless after legal battle over sexual abuse allegations
Kevin Spacey says he is officially homeless after being caught up in a costly legal battle sparked by several allegations of sexual misconduct.
Speaking to The Telegraph in an interview published Wednesday, Spacey said he has been living in hotels and Airbnbs while performing at a nightclub in Cyprus, having recently lost his home in Baltimore, Maryland, to foreclosure.
“I’m literally homeless, that’s what I’m trying to explain,” he told the outlet. “The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical. I have had very little income and everything going out.”
Spacey, a two-time Oscar winner, was hit with a series of sexual assault and harassment allegations in 2017. His accusers included “Rent” and “Star Trek: Discovery” actor Anthony Rapp, who claimed Spacey made sexual advances toward him when he was just 14, and actor Richard Dreyfuss’ son, Harry Dreyfuss.
The same day Rapp went public with his accusations, Spacey came out as gay after years of speculation about his sexuality. His announcement was met with heavy criticism from the LGBTQ+ community, with many accusing him of attempting to distract from the seriousness of the allegations leveled against him.

Spacey’s fall from grace following the allegations was swift, and Netflix fired him from the hit series “House of Cards.”
In 2022, however, a New York jury found that the actor was not responsible for assault in Rapp’s case. A year later, four complainants found him not guilty of nine charges of sexual assault in London. Several other charges and lawsuits have been dropped.
In recent years, several high-profile Hollywood stars, including Liam Neeson and Sharon Stone, have spoken out in Spacey’s defense.
“Maybe it got too out of hand, but I don’t think he should be punished forever for it,” actor Brian Cox told The Hollywood Reporter last December. “There should be a case of forgive and forget. Let’s move on. I think he should be given the opportunity to work again.”
However, appearing on The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast in February, actor Guy Pearce recalled feeling “targeted” by Spacey, whom he described as “a hands-on guy,” while on the set of the 1997 film “LA Confidential.”
Speaking to The Telegraph, Spacey said he and his team had been “in contact with some extremely powerful people who want to put me back to work” and he is optimistic “that will happen at the right time.”
“But I will also say that what I think the industry seems to be waiting for is for someone who is in a position of enormous respect and authority to give it permission,” he said. “So my feeling is that if Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino calls [my manager, Evan Lowenstein] Tomorrow it will be over. “I will be incredibly honored and delighted when that level of talent answers the phone.”
