London (AP) – The British police said they were examining videos of a band that led to the songs of “death to the IDF”, the Israel defense forces, at the Glastonbury Festival.

Rapper Bobby Vylan, from the Rap Vylan punk duo, directed crowds who attended the festival on Saturday in “Palestine free, free” and “death, death, death at the IDF”.

Avon and Somerset police said he was aware of the comments made by the acts at the festival, and said that the officers will review the video evidence “to determine if crimes that would require criminal investigation have been committed.”

The Irish language rap group, Kneecap, also acted on Saturday despite a terrorist position for one of its members allegedly supporting Hezbollah, leading a large crowd in “free Palestine” songs.

The Israeli embassy to the United Kingdom said on social networks that it was “deeply disturbed by inflammatory and hateful rhetoric expressed on stage at the Glastonbury Festival.”

The Secretary of Health, Wes Streeting, condemned Bob Vylan’s actions on Sunday as “terrible.” He told Sky News that the BBC organizers and the festival had to answer questions about how the comments were broadcast live to millions.

However, he also urged Israel to “take the violence of their own citizens towards the Palestinians more seriously” when asked about the conviction of the Israeli embassy for the actions of the band.

The minister referred to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and “the fact that the terrorists of Israeli settlers attacked a Christian village this week, set it on fire” and urged Israel to “put their own home in order.”

The Government said its secretary of Culture has spoken with the BBC general director about the performance of Bob Vylan.

The BBC said it issued a warning on the screen on “very strong and discriminatory language” during live broadcast.

Glastonbury is the largest summer music festival in Great Britain and attracts about 200,000 music fans every year to Worthy Farm in southwest England. Almost 4,000 acts serve in 120 stages.

The organizers of the festival said on Instagram that Vylan’s songs “crossed a line.”

“We urgently remind everyone involved in the production of the festival that there is no place in Glastonbury for anti -Semitism, hate discourse or violence incitement.”

“With almost 4,000 performances in Glastonbury 2025, there will inevitably be artists and speakers who will appear in our stages whose opinions we do not share, and the presence of an artist here should never be seen as a tacit support of his opinions and beliefs,” he said.

The two members of Bob Vylan keep their real names secret for privacy reasons. Founded in 2017, the band has released four albums.

Kneecap, who has received criticism for his comments on the Policy of the Middle East, also gave a passionate performance for tens of thousands of fans.

Liam Iog or Hannaidh, who acts under the artistic name Mo Chara, has been accused under the terrorism law of supporting an organization banned for allegedly shaking a Hezbollah flag in a concert in London in November.

The rapper, who was accused under the Anglicized version of his name, Liam O’Hanna, is on unconditional bail before a new judicial hearing in August.

The group has been under scrutiny since videos arose allegedly showing the band shouting “Up Hamas, Up Hezbollah” and asking people to kill legislators.

On Saturday, the band members led the audience in songs of “Free Palestine” and “Free Mo Chara”. They also pointed to a song full of expletives to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, who said he did not believe it was “appropriate” that Kneecap played in Glastonbury.

Rod Stewart, Olivia Rodrigo and The Prodigy are among the events that play on Sunday for the last day of Glastonbury.
