Leonardo DiCaprio says he hasn’t done it
Nearby, far away, wherever you are, you should know that Leonardo DiCaprio has not seen “Titanic” again recently.
The acting icon made the admission during a sit-down with former co-star Jennifer Lawrence for Variety’s acclaimed “Actors on Actors” series.
“Have you seen ‘Titanic’ again?” Lawrence asks DiCaprio during the conversation, which was published Wednesday morning.
In the transcript of their conversation on the site, DiCaprio is quoted as responding: “No. I haven’t seen it before,” a potentially shocking admission.
However, in the interview video released later Wednesday afternoon, the star’s words are less clear than what he appears to be saying. “No, I haven’t seen him for a long time.”
Variety did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the quote. But either way, Lawrence was quick to express that the film holds up.

“Oh, you should. I bet you could watch it now, it’s so good,” Lawrence said.
DiCaprio said he “doesn’t really watch” his movies, before asking the “Hunger Games” star if she does.
“No. I’ve never done anything like ‘Titanic’. If I did, I’d watch it,” he responded. “One time I was really drunk, I put on ‘American Hustle.’ I thought, ‘I wonder if I’m good at acting.’ I put it on and I don’t remember what the answer is.”
DiCaprio almost didn’t get the role of Jack Dawson in “Titanic,” as director James Cameron previously shared that the actor didn’t want to read for the role during auditions.

Cameron told GQ in 2022 that after an initial meeting with DiCaprio, he brought him in a few days later for next steps.
“I had the camera set up to record the video,” Cameron said, explaining that the actor didn’t know he was going to take the test. “He thought it was another meeting to meet Kate.”
Cameron recalled, “So I said, ‘Okay, we’ll go into the next room, go over some lines and I’ll videotape them.’ And he said, ‘You mean I’m reading?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He said, “Oh, I don’t read.” I shook his hand and said, ‘Thank you for coming.'”
DiCaprio was stunned and allegedly told Cameron: “‘Wait, wait, wait. If I don’t read, I don’t get the part? Is that simple?'”
“Oh yeah, come on,” said the “Avatar” director who responded. “This is a giant movie that will take two years of my life, and you’ll have to do five other things while I do post-production. So I’m not going to ruin it by making the wrong casting decision. Then you’ll either read or you won’t get the part.”
DiCaprio agreed and the rest is history.
“He comes in and he’s like everyone else. The unity of his whole being is so negative, until I said, ‘Action.’ Then he became Jack,” Cameron said. “Kate just lit up and they acted out the scene. Dark clouds had opened and a ray of sunlight came down and hit Jack. I’m like, ‘Okay.’ He’s the guy.'”
