A lion killed a man in a luxury shelter in the remote northwest of Namibia, authorities said. The victim, identified by local media as the well -known businessman Bernd Kebbel, was camping with other tourists in Tented Resort when the morning tragedy was developed, police said.

Kebbel, 59, camped with his wife and friends near the Hoanib Skeleton Coast camp in the Sesfontein area when he was attacked by the animal, Namibian newspaper reported.

He was attacked when he left his store to use the bathroom, the spokesman of the Ministry of Environment, Neshipanda Hamunyela, told local news informant.

Other campers managed to scare the lion, but Kebbel was already dead by then, he said.

The police were “attending the scene and a complete report will be presented in due time,” said spokesman Elifas Kuwinga.

According to the Daily Mail, Kebbel was a philanthropist that supported the conservation of wildlife in Namibia and once owned the center of the road, which sold accessories for safari vehicles.
