The comedian and Podcaster Marc Maron got into Netflix for his refusal to support the trans community, arguing that the decision of the transmission platform of issuing the special comedy specials of Dave Chappelle shows “how fascism in business works.”

“Fascism is good for business,” Maron said in the Sunday episode of “Pod Save Save America.”

“As Netflix,” he continued. “Netflix will simply co -opt anyone who can take that algorithm. He used to make a joke about it. Netflix can become ‘Reichflix’ very quickly.”

Maron said the “fundamental moment” was when the trans community and the allies criticized Netflix for issuing the 2021 special Dave Chappelle comedian in which Chappelle made transphobic jokes. Netflix employees organized a strike to demand that the transmission service special be withdrawn, but ultimately, the Netflix CEO, Ted Sarandos, refused to eliminate the program.

Maron said Netflix realized that the trans community was not going to affect its results.

“This is how business fascism works,” Maron said.

Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comments. Shortly after the controversy in 2021, Saraonds said that Netflix tries to “support creative freedom and artistic expression” and that he would classify hate discourse as “something that he would intentionally ask other people to physically damage other people or even eliminate protections.”

Maron acknowledged that Netflix has a robust catalog with some LGBTQ+programs and movies, but argued that these programs and films do not obtain the “great offers” or renew.

He added that today’s talented comics are operating “in the shadow” of what he called “tribited comedy”, calling Joe Rogan specifically as “the referee of what comedy is.”

But if “Wake is dead,” Maron continued, then the anti-dating comics cannot “claim the victim mantle.”

“Why do you have to continue beating these people?” asked. “Some of them are losing their rights. Some of them are being literally killed. Some of them are being deported, and these are all the great amusements for you who claim to be victims of this horrible policy. So why not stop now?”

Maron has criticized the comedians who had President Donald Trump in his podcasts during the period prior to the 2024 elections. In the HBO special of Maron, he joked saying that if Adolf Hitler was alive today, the Nazi dictator would probably appear in the podcast of the comedian Theo von. Maron then immersed himself in a von impression.

Maron said in “Pod Save America” that I had to think about that joke before including it because there is a stigma about being critical of another comedian.

“The impression was good enough,” Maron said. “The jokes I put [in with] He speaking was fun. It would be difficult to think that I didn’t think it was fun. “
