Amazon MGM Studios reportedly paid a whopping $40 million to license the Brett Ratner-directed documentary, which will stream on Amazon Prime after its theatrical run. Melania is reportedly an executive producer on the project. Muse Films’ exact involvement in the documentary is still unclear.
The documentary’s hefty licensing fee has sparked controversy, with critics calling it the latest example of Amazon and its founder Jeff Bezos cozying up to the Trump administration.
Ratner’s participation has also attracted attention. The director faced accusations of sexual misconduct during the #MeToo movement that he has denied.
According to promotional material, the film will focus on “the 20 days leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration” and will follow FLOTUS as she “orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and reenters public life with her family.”
