Nancy Mace Does Everything She Can to Deflect Responsibility for Her Wild Airport Tantrum

Rep. Nancy Mace (R.S.C.) spoke Tuesday about a police report that accused her of throwing a tantrum and launching a tirade against law enforcement officers at Charleston International Airport in October.

“Well, actually part of the report was falsified,” Mace said on the CNN show. “The source”to introduce Kaitlan Collins.

Mace, a leading candidate for South Carolina governor, said newly released footage of the incident doesn’t tell the full story and only shows her “asking for help from TSA agents.” He also repeatedly noted that the clip “conveniently” has “no accompanying audio.”

Mace then took the time to declare his support for law enforcement.

“I support blue, I support our police, I support our safety. In my district in South Carolina, I have received millions of dollars for local authorities to support them in their efforts to keep our community safe,” he said. “But what’s not okay is… falsifying incident reports.”

Collins responded, pressing Mace about the content of the report.

“You just said you’re ‘going back to blue.’ The police quote him in this report when he calls them “fucking idiots” and “fucking incompetents” while claiming he’s a “fucking representative” and telling a TSA supervisor, “I’m sick of your shit.” I’m tired of having to wait. I shouldn’t have to wait. You guys are always late and this is fucking ridiculous. Are you saying you didn’t say those things?

Mace doubled down, telling Collins, “Well, you’re citing a document that was, in part, forged. They say a lot of things, and the video doesn’t show them. There’s no audio.”

Collins continued and asked Mace, “Are you saying police officers are lying?”

“No, I’m saying that is, in part, false… It’s a forged document. There are things in there; most of what’s cited there is not true,” the congresswoman responded.

Mace later attempted to explain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“[The airport law enforcement] They weren’t there. They did not appear. “I was very frustrated with the situation because of the number of death threats I receive, and I expressed that frustration,” Mace continued. “But in no way, shape or form did I call any of them idiots.”

He added: “I didn’t even know that was in the report until you told me a moment ago. I never said, I’ve never, ever called someone an idiot. I mean, that’s shocking to me.”

Later in the interview, Mace argued that President Donald Trump also uses vulgar language “frequently” and called the airport incident a “political coup.”

“I express my frustration. I take responsibility for my words. I always have. But the idea of ​​calling someone an idiot, I have never done it in my life,” he added.

After the interview, Mace walked back some of his comments in an X post.

“I misspoke on CNN tonight. I’ve called a person an idiot before,” he wrote alongside a 2024 post in which he called Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) “Iran’s useful idiot.”
