Nancy Mace Fuels Nasty Schoolyard Dispute With Home Colleague Over Iran
Rep. Nancy Mace (R.S.C.) had a busy weekend taking on Muslim Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) to spark a fight over X.
Leaning on a News graphic confirming the assassination of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei during a US-Israeli strike, Mace sent a message to progressive lawmakers.
“My heart goes out to Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib tonight. Sending you thoughts and prayers,” Mace wrote on Saturday.
Omar retaliated Sunday with a reference to a report citing former employees who said Mace consumed alcohol and marijuana excessively (which she denied).
“I hope he’s not drunk and he followed his staff’s advice,” Omar said. “Rashida and I do not know this man and we are sure that he does not care about us,” he wrote of Khamenei.

It should be noted that none of the progressive congressmen are from Iran. Omar, born in Somalia, became a U.S. citizen in 2000, and Tlaib was born in the United States to Palestinian parents.
“Please refrain from drinking too much as your staff has warned you and stay away from social media when drunk. I pray that in your holy month you find peace and self-respect,” Omar continued in the midst of Ramadan.
“So tell me, what was it like being married to your brother?” Mace, who is running for governor of her state, responded to Omar by spewing a well-worn right-wing hoax.
The exchange reignited a social media skirmish that appeared to begin before the military strikes. On Thursday, Omar called it “disgusting” that the United States attacked Iran during Ramadan.
To which Mace responded: “I don’t give a shit if it’s Ramadan. Why do you still sympathize with terrorists who want Americans and their allies dead?”
Omar did not hide his objection to the war.
“President Trump is unilaterally dragging this nation into an illegal and unjustified war with Iran without congressional authorization, without a clear objective, and without any imminent threat to the United States,” he wrote over the weekend. “This is a reckless abuse of power that puts both innocent civilians and American lives at risk in a conflict the American people do not want.”
Last week, Omar and Tlaib criticized President Donald Trump during his State of the Union address for his crackdown in Minneapolis that resulted in the deaths of two Americans at the hands of federal agents.
