Natos suck Trump’s strategy seems to work
Hague, the Netherlands-The strategy of NATO NATO NATO allies, President Donald Trump to avoid interrupting the annual group of the group, seems to have worked, and Trump declares that he supports the mutual assistance clause that he has repeatedly questioned.
“Why would I be here? If I didn’t stop, why would I be here?” He told journalists at a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof.
The 32 -nations military alliance announced that it had agreed to increase its defense spending target of its current 2% of 5% GDP, with at least 3.5% in central military spending and 1.5% allowed in auxiliary things such as infrastructure.
Compared to the previous joint statements after the invasion of Ukraine of Russia in Russia of Ukraine, on Wednesday just mentioned in any of the countries, probably in deference to Trump’s animosity with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whom Trump tried to extort during his first mandate, and his long affinity towards the dictator of Russia, Vladimir Putin
The NATO secretary, Mark Rutte, was asked at a press conference after submission about whether he found his need to offer exaggerated praise for Trump “degraded”. He replied that he did not.
“I think he is a good friend, and when he is doing things, which forces us to do so, for example, when it comes to making more investments,” he said, and then suggested that it was Trump’s insistence that NATO allies spend more in defense, instead of a response to the continuous killing of Russia of Ukraine civilians, which persuaded member nations to increase the expense. “Doesn’t it deserve some praise?”
Trump, on the other hand, during a 45 -minute press conference full of signature, wandered and full of lies, seemed to enjoy the deference that Routte had demonstrated, even when he referred to Trump as “Dad” during a morning photography opportunity.
“He did it with love,” Trump said with a wide smile. “‘Daddy, you are my dad'”.
Trump also showed his views about Zelenskyy and Putin again when asked why he did not appear with Zelenskyy after his brief meeting just before the press conference to make a joint statement.
“Frankly, I had some problems with Zelenskyy. You may have read about him,” Trump said about the Ukrainian leader, whom Trump blamed his first political trial in 2020 after his voice was ran over his attempt to tie military aid to Ukraine to an investigation that Trump wanted Zelenskyy to announce about the then candidate Joe Biden.
As for Putin, while other NATO leaders describe him as a liar and murderer, Trump said: “I consider it a wrong person.”
“The gift towards Trump was exaggerated,” said Jim Towsend, who has worked both in the Pentagon and NATO and is now an analyst at the center of a new US security.
“Difficult problems such as Russia and the hybrid attacks avoided. These are crucial for NATO to address strongly. But avoiding problems that would bother Trump was the rule. A vanilla summit.”
Trump has a special ability to take any conference he attends, and did it on Tuesday, hours before his arrival, while flying through the Atlantic on Air Force One.

He asked a question about the NATO Mutual Defense Pact, contained in article 5 of the Charter of the Alliance, Trump, as he has done in the past, covered his commitment to him. “It depends on its definition. There are numerous definitions of article 5, do you know, right?” said.
Other leaders not, in fact, they don’t know that. “
“Article 5 is very simple, all for one and one for all,” said Lithuanian Prime Minister, NausÄ—da Gypsy, he told reporters while entering the meeting site on Wednesday. “It will be quite clear, what is article 5.”
This provision has only been invoked once in the 76 years of the Alliance, after the United States was attacked on September 11, 2001. When the United States responded by depositing the rulers in Afghanistan, NATO allies also sent troops.
If Trump knows this story or cares is not clear. For years, it has described inaccurately to NATO as if it were a racket of protection of the mafia, with the United States in the role of chief of the mafia, collecting quotas and change of guaranteeing the safety of those who pay.
Trump during his press conference seemed to show some evolution on that subject. “These people really love their countries. It is not a scam, and we are here to help them protect their country,” he said.

The adulation of NATO and Trump’s member countries had begun months ago. The visiting leaders of the allied nations invariably made a point of publicly praising Trump for his leadership, thanking him for getting member states to increase their defense expense, even when he characterized him routinely and repeatedly that spending as “quotas” paid the United States.
The excess of betrayal began to reach its maximum point when Trump began his trip to The Hague on Tuesday morning with a text message from Routte to Trump. “You are flying to another great success in The Hague tonight. It was not easy, but we have all signed at 5 percent!” It reads in part. Trump quickly made public the message by publishing it on his personal social networking site, Truth Social.
Rutte continued along that line at the opening of the formal business meeting on Wednesday. “For too long, an ally, the United States, took too much the burden of that commitment. And that changes today,” he told Trump, who was sitting beside him. “President Trump, dear Donald, made this possible change. His leadership in this has already produced $ 1 billion in additional expenses of European allies since 2016.”
