None of that is important: Sam Bee nails a brutal truth of Colberts cancellation
The former presenter of “Full Front” Samantha Bee has intervened in News’s decision to cancel “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”, calling him “horrible” but ultimately, is not surprising and “so obvious” for the network.
Bee, during an appearance in the last episode of the “Breaking Bree” podcast of Tom Pope, said she was “surprised but not surprised” by the negligence of the night franchise.
“These inherited shows are bleeding money without a real ending end,” he said. “People are simply not tune in, even remotely, comparatively, how they used to do it. People are literally on their phones all the time, on the one hand, so they don’t really need a summary of the events of the day. They are very well versed in what has happened.”

Dad had noticed how “The Late Show”, in which Colbert frequently mocks and hits Trump, was losing $ 40 million a year. The News parent company had also been looking for the approval of the Trump administration on its merger now approved with Skydance, he added.
“When the president of the United States has to give his signature about a corporate fusion, what he cannot do is make jokes about him,” said Bee. “It is a thin skin idiot. We know it is like pernicious cancer and cares about those things.”
Reflecting on his own experience in TBS, where his program was canceled in 2022 after seven seasons, Bee said that mergers often make night shows vulnerable.
“It was a constant source of conversation,” he said. “When a great corporate fusion is happening, nobody wants to cause problems. The business triumphs above all. No matter what their values are, no matter how important they believe is Legacy Media, none of that is important when it speaks of millionaires and billionaires who make their commercial transactions.”
In the case of Colbert, he suggested that there had been conversations to try to change the difficult financial situation of the program, but argued that it would have been “much easier for them to release it with this fusion by going down the Lucio.”
News has announced that “The Late Show” will end in May 2026.
Since the cancellation of the news was learned, Colbert has become more and more mocking both Trump and the network, movements that have caused speculations that their time for the program could come to an end before the scheduled time.

Dad suggested that Colbert could follow the steps of former News Tucker Carlson presenter, who launched a new platform after his dismissal and now continues to have “a great voice.”
Bee agreed, saying she was sure that Colbert would have several open doors for him.
