Will Smith is opening up about the raw moment his daughter, Willow Smith, shaved her head in the middle of a world tour.

Willow Smith, who was 10 years old at the time, had just achieved worldwide fame with her 2010 hit single, “Whip My Hair.”

Will Smith, who was on tour with his daughter, spoke about when she decided she was done acting and said he will “never forget” that moment.

“We were in Dublin, Ireland. Willow walks off stage, she was on tour with Justin Bieber,” the actor said in a new documentary, “Number One on the Call Sheet: Black Leading Men in Hollywood.”

“It hit a record, 20,000 kids were flipping their hair in Dublin, and she came off the stage and said, ‘I’m done, Dad,’” he recalled. “And I said, ‘Yeah, honey, that was a great show!’ And she said, ‘No, no, I mean, I’m done! ‘I’m ready to go home!’”

“I was like, ‘Well, no, you can’t go home, honey, you promised Mr. Jay-Z that you were going to do these 30 days of this tour.’ She said, ‘No, dad, you “Mr. Jay-Z promised,” the “King Richard” star said. “And I said, ‘Honey, I understand, but we promised as a family and you have to finish it.'”

“She looked at me, I’ll never forget the look in her eyes, and she said, ‘You don’t care that it’s over, Dad?’ And I said, ‘Well, yes, honey, it matters, but you can’t finish.’ ‘ And she said, ‘Oh, okay.'”

The two returned to their hotel and, in the morning, the actor said that “he had shaved his head.”

“In the middle of his ‘Whip My Hair’ tour, he had shaved his head. And it was like a magical moment. I was like, ‘Got it!'” she exclaimed.

Will Smith wrote about the incident in his 2021 memoir, recalling Willow bounding into the kitchen and saying, “Good morning, Dad.”

“My jaw was almost dislocated, dislocated and shattered on the kitchen floor – my hair-whipping, world-dominating future superstar was completely bald,” the actor wrote. “Overnight, Willow had shaved her entire head. My mind raced: How was she going to whip her hair if she didn’t have any? Who the hell wants to pay to see a kid whip her hair?” head back and forth?”

Willow Smith later claimed that she took drastic measures because she felt she had no control at the time.

“I was very young and I had a dream, but all I really wanted to do was sing, and I didn’t equate that with all the business and stress that ended up coming with it,” the 24-year-old told People magazine in 2019.

“I thought, ‘Wow, this is not the life I want,'” she said at the time, adding that shaving her head was “the perfect way to rebel.”
