Los Angeles (AP)-a group of masked thieves robbed $ 25,000 in Labubu dolls of a store in the Los Angeles area this week, according to an estimate given to the authorities by the owners of the store.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning in a store in La Puente, a city about 18 miles (29 kilometers) east of Los Angeles, said the department of the Sheriff of the Los Angeles County.

The department said the suspects used a stolen Toyota Toyota in the incident, which recovered shortly after.

Initially, One Stop Sales owners told the authorities who believed that $ 7000 of the luxury stuffed animals had been looted from the store. However, after reviewing the inventory, that estimate increased to $ 25,000, according to The New York Times.

Labubu dolls, created by the artist born in Hong Kong Kassing Lung, have become a popular collectible article a decade after the mini monsters were introduced.

They often look like bags of bags, have recently become a viral sensation between celebrities, influential people and anxious everyday collectors.

Sold in mysterious “blind” boxes, buyers have no idea which of the 300 creatures styles can be inside their packages before opening.

Although Labubu’s boxes are generally sold for around $ 30, some limited editing versions can obtain up to $ 500 in resale markets.

The One Stop Sales toys provider said on an Instagram post that the thieves took all the store inventory and destroyed the establishment.

The store published surveillance images that showed a group of people with hoodie and facial coatings. The suspects are seen dragging through items and carrying boxes outside the store.

“We are still in shock,” said the store in its publication, urging people to help find thieves.
