Most bowling games that do not have bets are considered boring or useless. But Pop-Tarts brought the fun for the third year in a row. Part of this was the unique brilliance of the end zone and the artistry of the sideline. BYU and Georgia Tech each had their school names in their end zones accompanied by sparkles. Sparks also appeared on the sidelines and on the helmets of each player.

Pop Tarts Ring of Honor

Pop-Tarts presented its Ring of Honor at Camping World Stadium, paying tribute to the Pop-Tarts eaten in the previous two bowl games. Cookies and Crème, Hot Fudge Sundae, and Frosted Wild Berry held commemorative jackets and did their best to honor Strawberry and Cinnamon Roll.

Pre-game presentation

It wasn’t the Ohio State University band dotting the “I,” but it was still fun. Pop-Tarts held a pre-game ceremony to show the crowd in Orlando, Florida which Pop-Tarts would be participating in the bowl game. There were six Pop-Tarts separated into two teams: Team Sprinkles and Team Swirls. Sprinkles included Protein Slammin’ Strawberry, Cookies and Crème and Frosted Cherry. The swirls included chocolate chip cookie dough, glazed wild berries, and glazed hot chocolate sundae.

The Cougars trailed 21-10 heading into the fourth quarter and needed to dig deep to somehow pull out the win. A blocked Georgia Tech field goal with 55 seconds left in the third quarter sparked that comeback. Touchdowns by Enoch Nawahine and Jovesa Damuni along with a 2-point conversion by Bachmeier helped BYU win the game.

Protein Slammin’ Strawberry rescues itself

The Pop-Tarts Bowl reward was supposed to be a record three pies descending into a giant toaster for the winning team to enjoy. Protein Slammin’ Strawberry, Cookies and Crème and Cherry were on top of the toaster dancing to the music and awaiting their fate.

Protein Slammin’ Strawberry held a sign that said, “Not my dream…yet.” Then the cupcake jumped out of the toaster and ran away. A message where the Pop-Tarts cake should have said, “You haven’t seen the last of me yet!”

Cookies and Crème and Cherry Pop-Tarts were popped into the toaster and served as giant treats to the champions.
