Prince Harry makes a surprise visit to Ukraine to meet war victims

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, made a surprise visit to Ukraine Thursday to visit a rehabilitation clinic for wounded soldiers.

Harry, who served in the British army for 10 years, toured the center of superhumans in the western city of Lvv and met with patients and medical professionals.

The clinic treats and helps rehabilitate military personnel who was injured in the current war with Russia, which has been unleashed in the country since February 2022. The installation provides prostheses, reconstructive surgery and psychological help without charge.

The Duke of Sussex joined the Invictus Games Foundation, The beneficial organization founded in 2014 to help wounded veterans through sports competitions.

Rob Owen, the CEO of Invictus Games Foundation, said that Ukraine is a “vital part” of the work of the beneficial organization. “This visit reaffirms our dedication to the position with those who are sailing for life after an injury,” he said in a press release.

The surprise trip to Ukraine was only announced after having left the country. During the visit, Harry also met with the veteran Minister of Affairs of Ukraine, Natalia Kalmykova.

At the beginning of the week, the Duke of Sussex appeared in the Royal Court of Justice in London as part of a case about the changes in his personal security in the United Kingdom after he retreated from the real duties in 2020.
