Protesters explode about Democratic senators

New York-HUNDRED ORGANIZED A LOVE IN THE MANHATTAN BUILDING THAT HASES OFFICES OF THE TWO US SENORS OF NEW YORK, WHICH DOCUENAS OF ARESTTES CAUSE, INCLUDED THOSE OF A MEMBER OF THE STATE ASSEMBLY AND A CITY Councilor.

The protest, organized by the Jewish voice for peace, occurred after both the leader of the minority Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand voted against the proposals to block a massive transfer of weapons to Israel, although dozens of their Democratic colleagues joined the Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT.) significant milestone.

“Less than 36 hours ago, the Senate voted and saw three quarters of them refuse to take measures to block the sale of weapons that would address the star crisis,” said Jay Saper, a Jewish voice organizer for La Paz, who called the votes of the senators against the “outrageous” measure.

“The only way in which you can address the hunger crisis is whether we stop sending the bombs that Israel continues to fall in Gaza,” Saper said.

None of the senators immediately returned a comment request on Friday.

Shortly after 12 pm on Friday, hundreds of protesters with “Stop Starving Gaza” and “Jews say that Let Gaza lives the t -shirts” in the lobby of 780 Third Ave., where both Schumer and Gillibrand have offices. There, they hit pots and pans and sang: “Never again for anyone, never again is now” and “not to our name, not in our ten cents, no more money for Israel’s crimes.”

In an hour, the police arrived on the scene and warned the protesters who faced arrest if they continued to occupy the building lobby. They were also told the members of the press to leave the building. Most protesters left at this point, although a few dozen stayed behind and were arrested. Fifty people were arrested as part of the protest, according to Eliza Klein of the Jewish voice for peace.

Among those arrested by the police were the member of the State Assembly Claire Valdez and the member of the New York City Council Tiffany Cabán.

The Cabán office confirmed his arrest and said in a statement that he participated in the action to demand that Israel leaves Gaza’s hunger. ”

“Senators Schumer and Gillibrand must stop financing this genocide,” the statement continued.

“Children are starving because Israel is using hunger as a weapon, hunger hungry for the remaining hostages with the people of Gaza. 92% of the houses in Gaza have been severely damaged by Israeli assaults. 90% of Gaza people have been displaced. The amputates in the world.

The elected officials were arrested for search and lack of dispersion charges, although both were subsequently released from police custody, said Valdez Communications Director Erica Landau, in an email shortly after 5 pm et.

“Israel is hungry for two million people in Gaza with the complete support of the United States government, including the two New York senators,” Valdez said in a statement. “That is shameful. I participated in today’s action with the Jewish voice for peace because we should all be in the streets demanding that our leaders stop these atrocities. There is no time; raise the siege, finish the blockade and leave Gaza help.”

As a result of the dramatic Israeli restrictions in the aid that enters Gaza, doctors and help groups are sounding alarms so they could become thousands of preventable deaths due to malnutrition. Doctors of Gazans died of malnutrition in July, according to Palestinian officials, and since May, more than 1,000 gazanes have been killed by Israeli forces while looking for food aid, the United Nations Human Rights Office reported. The Palestinian death number in Gaza since October 7, 2023 exceeded 60,000 on Tuesday, according to Palestinian officials, but that figure is widely considered as a dramatic lower content. The attack of October 7 of Hamas against Israel killed about 1,200 people, according to Israeli officials.

Nas Issa, a member of the Palestinian Youth Movement, was among the protesters on Friday. Issa requested an international embargo on Israel, covering the transfers of weapons and energy, “until Israel not only allows help, but also allows people in Gaza to live dignity, rebuild their homes.”

“We have seen in the last two years that Israel will not stop until it stops,” Issa said. “And it will not stop until you find real consequences to have designed a genocide, and now, a catastrophic famine in Gaza.”

“We do not want our tax dollars to be used to damage and kill, children and families,” Aviles told News themezone. “We want people to live with dignity. We want Palestinians to live with dignity. We want the end of this war, this genocide.”

“As a mother with two children, I can’t keep waiting for things to improve, I hope that a high fire will solve it,” Gutiérrez said. “While we continue adding money to Israel’s struggle, this will continue, and we will be responsible for a genocide. The people who are here are great, and I hope that the people of the Democratic party will join us, for this tide of moral clarity. We will be responsible for it. I need to tell a different story to my children.”
