Publicist Timothe Chalamets didn’t approve of this outfit, he wore it anyway
Timothée Chalamet’s publicist wasn’t too happy about this particular fashion choice.
The year was 2017 and a young Chalamet was starring in “Call Me by Your Name” by Luca Guadagnino. While in Germany, before the film’s premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, the actor’s eyes caught a glimpse of designer Haider Ackermann’s “big raincoat,” and at that moment he knew that was the garment he should wear to the premiere.
But his publicist didn’t like the idea.
“It was like, ‘You’re not even going to take off!’” Chalamet recalled her publicist telling her in a Thursday interview with Vogue. “’You’re going to ruin what you’re doing before you start.’”
The “Dune” actor ended up wearing the pink jacket, but for him it wasn’t just a color: it was a power move, especially considering his disdain for the “degree of obedience” that being an actor often entails.

“I think some people enjoy it, not just actors,” he said. “I’m talking about the publicists, the people in the unit. People love to be told what to do.”
The interview also noted that Chalamet now has a completely different publicist.
Since then, the “A Complete Unknown” star hasn’t shied away from bold fashion choices. At the 2025 Academy Awards, he brought a touch of Willy Wonka whimsy to the red carpet. From head to toe dressed in striking yellow (a Gucci suit, matching shirt, and Cartier jewelry), he practically looked like the sun incarnate.
Three years earlier, at the same awards ceremony, he turned heads in a unique shirtless Louis Vuitton ensemble: sleek black tuxedo pants, paired with a short lace jacket with sparkling sequins.
