Rene Bueno
Renee Good’s loved ones are speaking out to deny a false claim that the mother of three, who was shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis last week, had an extensive criminal history.
Morgan Fletcher, Good’s former sister-in-law, wrote in a Facebook post that she never thought the death of a loved one would be “such a high profile” or “hugely divisive political issue.”
“We are grieving. A lot. And yes, we see everyone’s posts and comments. Some supportive, but also the nasty ones tearing down our beautiful, beloved Renee,” Fletcher wrote. “And we have seen false claims and incorrect information being published about Renee Good (criminal record? She had none).”
Since Trump and his administration officials began criticizing Good as a “domestic terrorist,” iterations of her so-called “rap sheet” have circulated on social media and appear to link her to several arrests between 2022 and 2024.
In reality, the extent of Good’s criminal record only extends to two traffic tickets, one in 2019 and another in 2012, PolitiFact found. At least one of the fake screenshots showed the late 37-year-old mother’s age as “44.”
Fletcher reminded her followers that Good was “our family” and that her 6-year-old son, whom she allegedly dropped off at school before encountering federal agents, was “now an orphan.”

Fletcher also had a message for everyone, regardless of their views on ICE and whether or not they thought Good “deserved or not what happened” to her.
“Please remember that she was a human being and had loved ones… including children who can and will probably see all of these things about their mother… and his wife, whom he loved dearly,” Fletcher wrote. “Please remember to BE KIND. And if you claim to be a Christian, especially, please check your heart, your attitude, and your response to tragic death. Because by your fruits you will be known.”
In separate comments, Jessica Fletcher, also Good’s former sister-in-law, told The Guardian that there has been “so much hateful rhetoric” surrounding the deadly shooting. He noted that people were missing “an image of who Renee was.”
Fletcher drafted a statement to The Guardian that was primarily made up of family members related to Good’s late husband, Timmy Macklin Jr., a US Air Force veteran who died in 2023 at age 36.
Family members said they wanted to “avoid the division and harsh language” that had swirled around the deadly shooting.
