Respect: Why fans are praising Leonardo DiCaprio’s reaction to Michael B. Jordan
Michael B. Jordan certainly wasn’t done winning after his heartfelt speech at the Oscars on Sunday night.
Moments after accepting the Best Actor award for his portrayal of the Smokestack Twins in “Sinners,” Jordan could be seen sharing a celebratory hug with Leonardo DiCaprio, who was nominated in the same category for his performance in “One Battle After Another.”
It didn’t take long for DiCaprio’s “Battle After Battle” co-star Benicio del Toro to also get into action. Nominated for Best Supporting Actor, del Toro acknowledged Jordan’s victory with a brotherly kiss on his fellow actor’s hand.

Video of the exchange between the three men drew effusive praise online, with many interpreting it as a tender moment of solidarity and proof that DiCaprio and Del Toro were not sore losers.
“Imagine crying tears of happiness on Leonardo DiCaprio’s shoulders. For winning a category they were both nominated for,” one person wrote on X. “I can’t.”
Another added: “A powerful moment, the respect of the legends makes the victory even more meaningful.”

Jordan’s victory made him the sixth black man to win in the Best Actor category, following Sidney Poitier in 1964, Denzel Washington in 2002, Jamie Newsx in 2005, Forest Whitaker in 2007 and Will Smith in 2022.
Halle Berry remains the only black woman to win Best Actress for “Monster’s Ball” in 2002.
Not long after Jordan’s win, DiCaprio and del Toro would have their own moment in the spotlight when “One Battle After Another” won Best Picture.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s star-studded thriller about a group of former revolutionaries was the big winner of the night, taking home a total of six Oscars, including Best Director for Anderson and Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn.
Of course, Jordan wasn’t done celebrating at the end of the ceremony. Remarkably, he also stopped by In-N-Out Burger, gold statuette in hand, to grab a bite, prompting applause and cheers from restaurant staff and customers.
