Royal Caribbean Member of the crew stabs an employee partner, then dies after jumping around, according to the police

A member of the Royal Caribbean crew stabbed a crew member on a cruise and then died after jumping around Thursday night, authorities said.

The incident occurred near the Bahamas in front of the island of San Salvador on the icon of the sea cruise, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force. Around 7:30 pm local time, a 35 -year -old South African man allegedly stabbed a 28 -year -old South African woman several times, police said.

The man fled from the scene and jumped into the water. He was later found that he does not respond and pronounced dead by medical staff on board, police said. The woman suffered weapon wounds at the top of the body and it was reported that she was in a stable state, police said.

“Our crew immediately began a search and rescue operation, but unfortunately the crew member died,” Royal Caribbean said in a statement to News themezone on Friday. “We extend our condolences to the family and their loved ones from the crew member. To respect their privacy, we have no additional details to share.”

The passengers on board shared videos with News themezone Miami that showed the crew members who run to help after listening to “Oscar Oscar Oscar” in the intercom, which is the Secret Man Overboard code.

The ship slowed down and turned quickly after that call came out, according to passengers.

Royal Caribbean did not identify the members of the crew involved or provided a possible reason in the stabbing.

The incident remains under investigation, police said, and an autopsy has been programmed.
