Scarlett Johansson has admitted her first romantic encounter with Colin Jost ended abruptly in a “strange” way, leaving the comedian raising an eyebrow.

While co-hosting Monday’s episode of “Today with Jenna and her friends” The “Jurassic World Rebirth” star reflected on how her first date with the “Saturday Night Live” star went from “lovely” to downright awkward.

“Honestly, on my first date with Colin, no one asked me out before,” Johansson recalled, noting that she had minimal dating experience when she met Jost because she had been a “serial monogamist” before they crossed paths.

“I never understood the traditional, ‘Hey, would you like to have dinner sometime?’” he explained.

The Marvel star shared that she and Jost went to an Italian restaurant in New York for their first date, and although the evening started on a good note, things got complicated later on.

“It was a lovely date,” he said. “We had dinner at like 8pm or something, and then he said, ‘I’d love to, you know, meet up with friends. Let’s go have a drink.'”

Seemingly caught off guard by Jost’s suggestion, Johansson decided to call it a night rather than extend their date.

“I had basically never dated anyone, so I was like, ‘I have to go now. I need to go,'” she recalled. “And I came home to relieve my babysitter, it was like 9:36 pm and she said, ‘Why are you home?’”

Johansson explained to her confused babysitter that she ended the night early because she “felt really nervous” about Jost’s offer to spend more time.

As the couple got over the actor’s awkward departure, she noted that her behavior had stumped Jost.

“Later he told me, ‘I thought that was it. You were acting really weird,'” Johansson said. “I panicked. I don’t know.”

Jost and Johansson began dating in 2017, although they met on the set of “SNL” when she hosted the sketch show in 2006. They married in 2020. The “Lucy” actor was previously married to actor Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011 and journalist Romain Dauriac from 2014 to 2017.

The “Weekend Update” co-host and Johansson welcomed their first child together in August 2021. Johansson also shares a daughter with Dauriac.
