Sean Hannity brings the broken Ted Cruz back from the abyss
When Sean Hannity If you have to step in to be the voice of reason, it may be an indication that you’re being a bit of a drama queen.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) went on an alarmist tirade against Democrats while giving a grim assessment about the future of the Republican Party during an appearance on News on Tuesday.

Cruz’s exaggerated comments came after host Hannity asked him what he thought. Democrats sweep key races during local elections in several states Tuesday, which notably included Zohran Mamdani’s victory to become the next mayor of New York City.
“Look, last night was a disaster,” Cruz said flatly. “It was an electoral explosion. The results in New Jersey were disastrous. The results in Virginia were terrible. The results in New York: Comrade Mamdani is the face of the Democratic Party,” Cruz said, referring to Mamdani, who identifies as a democratic socialist.
“We have a real communist jihadist,” Cruz continued, echoing a right-wing and Islamophobic talking point used to stoke fears about Mamdani’s Muslim faith. “It is important to note that Mamdani is not a socialist. He is a total communist… That is deeply dangerous.”
Cruz added that Mamdani was a “lunatic” and that under his leadership “we are going to see New Yorkers die.”

Shortly after Cruz attempted to link Mamdani to the 9/11 attacks, Hannity intervened… first time, to get him out of the abyss.
“Did you expect any different results?” —Hannity asked. “Because I didn’t.”
This temporarily calmed Cruz. But he became angry again toward the end of his appearance, while saying that Tuesday night’s Democratic victories should act as a wake-up call for the Republican Party.
“Last night should be a warning sign. It should be a warning sign to Republicans across the country,” Cruz said.
“The left is energized. They’re angry. Democrats are outnumbering Republicans right now, three to one, four to one. It’s dangerous.”
He warned that the “complacency” of centrists could become a total catastrophe for the right.

“I think on our side are the Republicans, and there are just common sense people in the middle who I’m afraid are happy or potentially complacent,” Cruz continued.
“That’s really, really dangerous. The left showed up in large numbers last night, and common sense conservatives didn’t. If that happens a year from now, we’re facing a disaster in the midterms,” he concluded.
“Okay, uh, okay,” Hannity said. “I don’t feel as bad as you.”
Hannity went on to say that Tuesday’s Republican losses should act as a “caution” and advocated for “introspection” and a “course correction” for the right moving forward.

Although Hannity acted as the adult in the room while Cruz had his fear-mongering tantrum, he hasn’t been completely drama-free in the wake of Tuesday’s election.
The News host said Tuesday that his Friends in New York are reeling after Mamdani has forgotten you.
