Selena Gomez says she went crazy after the wedding, thinking
For Selena Gomez, even the happiest moments come with a sense of foreboding.
On September 25, the singer and her now husband, record producer Benny Blanco, got married. But what was supposed to be a moment of pure happiness and joy turned into a source of anxiety for Gómez.
“I got married and then I was sobbing because I thought, I’m going to die the next day,” Gomez said, laughing, during an appearance Thursday on Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Conference.
But what was no laughing matter was the actress admitting that she finds it difficult to embrace joy because she’s always preparing for her metaphorical shoe to drop.

“When something great happens in my life, I expect something bad to happen,” he revealed.
“I can just focus on that instead of enjoying things,” he said. “And I would say that sometimes that’s my biggest conflict, when wonderful things happen.”
The actress confessed to having difficulty being “present” in the moment and enjoying the trip, because in the back of her mind everything could be taken away from her without warning.
Gómez and Blanco announced their marriage by posting a carousel of wedding photos on Instagram on September 25.
In April, Blanco recounted his first kiss, which did not end as he expected.
