Seth Meyers puts Trump and his people

“Late Night” host Seth Meyers on Wednesday criticized President Donald Trump for becoming angry about Americans’ interest in Jeffrey Epstein’s files instead of praising his own described accomplishments.

Before signing a bill to release Justice Department files on the convicted sex offender, Trump insisted to reporters Monday that he and his administration had “nothing to do” with Epstein. He also claimed that all of Epstein’s friends were Democrats.

“All I want is for people to recognize the great work I’ve done on prices and affordability, because we lowered prices a lot, but they are dropping a lot,” Trump said, continuing his series of lies about the cost of living.

Meyers joked that meat, coffee and bananas cost him “six gold bars” at the supermarket the other day, and then addressed the president’s comments.

“The funny thing is, I can understand Trump being frustrated about focusing on Epstein if prices were going down, but they’re not going down. He’s basically saying, ‘Don’t focus on this shit, focus on this other shit,'” Meyers said. “Saying I don’t want Epstein to undercut prices is like a lawyer saying, ‘Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my client would never embezzle company funds; ask his wife if you can find her!’
