Sheryl Lee Ralph received star in Hollywood Walk of Fame and thanks 1 unexpected group
A new dazzling star adorns the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and belongs to no less than Sheryl Lee Ralph.
“Look what the universe has done,” said former Dreamgirl after accepting her honor of Steve Nissen, CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Thursday.
On April 17, the day Nissen called “Sheryl Lee Ralph Day”, it was a moment of celebration. But life has not always been a glass ladder for the actor.
During his speech, Ralph reflected on his career, noting that he does not “seem his trip” and shared how, at the beginning of his career, he could not pay a “pizza portion.”
“They have told me. They have overlooked me. I have been told that it was too black, too strong, too much, and yet, I am standing here,” he recalled.
And along the way, he said, an unexpected force helped to drive it.
“I just want to thank the people who told me not,” Ralph exclaimed.

The actor told how many in Hollywood did not believe that she adjusted to her mold, and said that “some of them were not friendly” in their delivery of that feedback, but declared that he did not deter it.

“I thank you, because your rejection was a redirection, and look where it landed,” he said proudly.
Faithful to the form, the “Abbott Elementary” star ended his speech with words of breath.
“For all of you thinking ‘you can’t happen to you’, think that your dreams don’t matter, you go ahead. You keep doing the job. Dreams do not have an expiration date. It only ends when you stop or when you say: ‘It’s over’. But it still appears, it is still your authentic being,” Ralph said.
